Nice! Have you ever try hop bursting? Makes for killer hoppy beers with a real smooth bitterness.Brewing an IPA for family coming for Thanksgiving. I copied the DeadRinger IPA from northern brewer but used Cascade hops in place of centennial.
No I havent. Is it something you can do quick? I am heating up to boil now.Nice! Have you ever try hop bursting? Makes for killer hoppy beers with a real smooth bitterness.
Yea it's when all the hop additions are in the last 15-20 mins of the boil. You use more hops to compensate for skipping the bittering addition but you end up with a smooth bitterness and huge hop flavor/aroma.No I havent. Is it something you can do quick? I am heating up to boil now.
Thanks. The original recipe calls for the following schedule:Yea it's when all the hop additions are in the last 15-20 mins of the boil. You use more hops to compensate for skipping the bittering addition but you end up with a smooth bitterness and huge hop flavor/aroma.
6oz in the boil for APAs and at least 8oz for IPAs have been good numbers for me.
whats the batch size on this? Thanks. The original recipe calls for the following schedule:
.75 oz at 60 min
1 oz at 20 min
2 oz at 5 min
So it almost there already. Might have to try that on my next batch
I like hop stands a lot too for flameout additions. Usually I do something like 15min, 10min, and 5min additions then a 20-30 min hop stand in the 160s. Its below isomerization temps but hot enough to kill any nasties just in case and I think you keep more of the volatiles from being driven off since your further from the boiling point. On the next one try dumping your hops in the kettle at flame out and do a 20 min whirlpool/hot stand. So tasty.
My boil volume started at 6 gallons, but i got 5 gallon batch into the fermentorwhats the batch size on this?

Yep. I have an ounce for dry hopping as wellWith that amount of hops that's sort of still in the APA range. The bittering addition might make the IBUs In the IPA range but with 3oz of late kettle additions it'll probably drink/smell more like an APA. If you want punch you in the face hop character you gotta get a little wild with the hops lol.
Did you plan on dry hopping the batch?
I have been known to add some hop pellets in a tea ball in my glassRandall! Fresh hop the biotch on the way to the glass.
Great way to learn hop flavors when starting out. Grab a clean low hopped CAP and drop a few hop pellets in.I have been known to add some hop pellets in a tea ball in my glass
I like the dry hopping bud light method. It's the best BMC you'll ever drink.Great way to learn hop flavors when starting out. Grab a clean low hopped CAP and drop a few hop pellets in.
