So as the title says, I'll be moving to the PNW here in about a month. Would love to hear feedback on long distance moves, any advice you may have for me and the wife would be appreciated. We are taking our dog with us on the road (any advice for that?) and sending all our furniture with a van line (any feedback on a good option there?). Would love to hear from the Seattle brothers about some good B&M's in the city, and once we get settled would love to meet up for a smoke! We will be living downtown and I'll be working in outside sales so I'll be driving around a lot North of the city. Looking forward to everyone's input and advice. Here we go on a big adventure!

United Van Lines gave me the best quote (just hired them a few weeks ago).. I talked to them, Mayflower, and looked at PODS as an option too..

No advice on dogs.. ours road trip with us everywhere (to include moves).. but they go in a kennel in the back of the truck for the long hauls (180lbs of dog (3 of them) in the cab of a Chevy Silverado for a 13 hour drive with 3 humans.. would get tiresome (and smell horrible :) )....

Good B&Ms in the city? It's Washington, smoking lounges are illegal.

So there are four in the state that I know of, all on Indian land. One is closer to Seattle on the Snoqualmie Casino, called Lit. The other three are south, all within 15min of my house. Two are in Fife, about 30 miles south, Smokey Joes and Stogies. Smokey Joes is well known in the are and has even around for a long time. Stogies was just launched recently and employs some of the former staff of Joes. Joes is really nice, but often crowded. Haven't made it to Stogies yet, but I'm told it's nice. The third is in Tacoma, called the Thunderbird. I've heard it was recently renovated, but haven't been over there since.

Thanks! I'm looking at Atlas currently but will add United to the list. Our dog will ride with us in the back seat of the car. We'll just make more stops for her to stretch and use the bathroom.

Ah so that's why I'm having a hard time finding anything on Google. Thanks, I may have to check those places out but sounds like I'll be ordering any new smokes online. I'll be living in a high rise so I'll try and sneak a smoke in on the balcony now and again. If any of you guys want to herf I'd love to meet up after we get settled. Thanks for the tips!

Welcome to Seattle man, good luck with the move.

As Derek said, the lounges are all pretty much on Reservation land... it's a terrible State to be a cigar smoker. Definitely not like Texas. :( With that said, there are a couple places you can smoke downtown Seattle, but neither are ideal. Union Cigar Society on the West side of Lake Union (by Space Needle) is a nice boutique shop. You can't smoke in there, but they do have events during the warm months where people smoke outside and you can take boat rides with purchases. During regular days, they have a ghetto lounge set up in the form of a bus. Yes, a bus. lol They used to smoke out on the pier until the neighbor businesses complained. But if you start going to this shop and get to know the regulars, the bus would work just fine to hang out and have a cigar if needed downtown.

The other option is a private lounge called the Vertigo Club and is just upstairs from JnJ Cigars shop, just South of the Mariners and Seahawks stadiums. The lounge itself doesn't sell cigars, it's a total private club where people bring their own cigars, drinks and food. It's just a place to smoke and you pay an annual membership. There's a couple people on this forum who are members, it's a nice place.

Out of all the places listed, Smokey Joe's is by far the best place in the State IMO. I've been to the new Stogies that Derek talks about and I much prefer Smokey Joe's... even though I'm good friends with the manager at Stogies, who moved from Smokey Joe's. From Pike Place Market downtown Seattle, Smokey Joe's is 29.7 miles away while Lit Lounge is 27 miles. For 2.7 miles, I'd go to Smokey Joe's every time.

Oh, meant to add if you want to buy cigars in a shop, Smokey Joe's has a very good selection and they don't have the State sales tax because they're on Reservation land. Union Cigar and Rain City will have tax.

How far "North" will you be working? I just recently moved pretty far North to Bellingham. I would be more than happy to meet up for a cigar when you get settled in. :)

That's all really good to know, I appreciate the tips. My office will be in Lynnwood, and we have concrete plants (CEMEX) in Everett and Woodinville. So I'll be all around those general areas. I'm going to check out Vertigo Club and Smokey Joes if I ever head down South. Looking forward to meeting up sometime, I need to head to Bellingham to try my hand at the MTB trails too.

Hrm....who would they be?

Look me up when you're here and settled in. I'm sure I can scrape a real shitty welcome stick for ya. :)

Welcome to Seattle. You'll love it here.
Ha, I appreciate it. Looking forward to the change of scenery, but these smoking laws are going to take some getting used to!

Somehow I didn't realize LIT was that far away from Seattle! Good call.

True that.

There's some great ones up here, and all over WA, but it's something I never got into. :( If you really want to do some MTB, head up to Whistler in the Summer. Google it.

Yeah I ski, but last winter was brutal... no snow. Even up in Whistler. Was there in February and going up the lift, saw dry land 1/3 of the way up!?! I've heard this Winter is supposed to be the same. :(

Mt Baker where I live usually gets a ton of snow... sometimes the most of all North America ski resorts.

Yea last season looked rough out there...my fingers are crossed and I'm doing my snow dance for a good winter this year. Would love to go check out Baker for a weekend.

Welcome! I love Rain City Cigars, no lounge so I used to go to Lit when I lived closer.
