Inquiry for Fellow Noobs, but Anyone Could Answer!

So this is a random question, but now you've been bombed and purchased some sticks on your own and the humi is nice and stocked, but now you want to smoke something....how do you choose what to smoke? Random grab? How do you know which Vitola to smoke? Which brand? Which ring gauge? As a noob should you just smoke any and everything until you run out? These are the questions I face when I go to pick out a stick lol I tend to complicate things but I'm curious what others do

Very good question with a simple answer. Smoke whatever pops out at you.
Sometimes I will open a humi and immediately see something thats says "smoke me". Other times it is simply what I am in the mood for. A go to stick so to speak. Some of my favorites are UCs and partagas maduros. They just simply go well any time.
Most important, enjoy whatever you decide to smoke. And try to smoke things you have not tried. That is the true intention of bombing, is to share sticks with somebody who may not have tried something we like.

This is generally me too. Sometimes a cigar just looks good when you open the humidor and others it's based on mood. Then there's those times sitting at work thinking "can't wait to get home and light up XXX stick". It's good to venture out and try new sticks you haven't to broaden your tastes I think. Size also can be a determining factor since sometimes I don't have time to sit down with a particularly large stick that will take longer to smoke.

Size and time are a great factor as well as weather. It was 70 the other day so I went for a great big double churchill but now that its in the 30s a much smaller one would be in order.

Like several others have said, depending on the time I have, that determines the Vitola. If it is winter than I obviously go for the short smokes, as my toes only tolerate so much cold!
I also go for new stuff that I haven't tried. Which if you are a new smoker is pretty much anything! But once you have smoked through a good sampling of cigars you will start to know what kind of cigars goes with what mood you are in, or what drink you may want to pair with it, or what you favorite go to smoke is.
Now on the days that I don't want to take the time to choose, I just go ask my wife to grab me a cigar and then smoke whatever she chooses! Which most of the time is the ones with the prettiest bands!

I go for the sticks thats been in the tupp at least over a month, witch pretty much splits the stash in half. Then choose from the ones I haven't smoked yet (another division of 2)...So yeah its kinda like a mathematical equation!

Now you know why you never have enough storage...
For me (and though Im not a noob I face the same conundrum on a daily basis) I factor in a few things...
- smoking time: do I have enough time for a churchill or a petite corona. I want to enjoy the smoke and never have intent of pitching a stick half way through.
- time of day: a morning smoke for me would ideally be a mild smoke and they get heavier as the day goes on.
- what I feel like: there are "some times you feel like a nut and sometimes you don't". Sometimes I want something new, different and sometimes I just want a smoke I know will be good.

*note* none of the above ever prevents me form perusing the stash anyway (y)

Me, too. Sometimes I'll be over the cooler eye-humping stuff for minutes until something pops out or I know right away. Very seldom to I go into the coolidor knowing what I'm going to grab. I'm tend to be a very random person. Just ask my friends.
