Interesting. If I'm reading into it correctly, this might mean more widely available releases that were otherwise incredibly limited.

Thats what I'm getting out of it too.
I was leaning the other way until they said... "Tatuaje will not cease production of limited edition cigars, even those that might only be offered at certain retailers."

I think it means in the future, cigars like the Whore don't exist.
See, I wonder that. However, I'm also curious (and maybe some in-the-know guys can school me as to how feasible) whether or not sticks like the Whore will become multi-shop/regional releases.

That's what they're saying. Still limited releases just not for one individual store.

Pete is doing this because super small batches are a drag on production. The Whore was one of those super small batches. LE will continue, because we're all suckers, and can't get enough of them. Something as small as the Whore doesn't ever happen again though.

Technically, you're absolutely correct. My line of thinking was that if he produced the Whore on a larger scale, it wouldn't be a shop exclusive, by definition, but would reach a larger audience and still be of the same quality. Those don't intrinsically seem bad to me, but I see exactly what you're saying.

I think the whore concept & imagery spelt a further negative direction into simply raising the shockvalue bar.
what could possibly be gained to entertain another juvenile makings such as .

I can only think this is good news. Maybe it's my heathen palette, but how much difference was there really with Pete's store exclusive blends? They all started to taste kind of like there were 4-6 different blends repackaged a 100 ways.
I, for one, would love if the whole industry moved away from limited releases, store exclusives etc and focused on quality core lines (not to say Tat's core lines aren't quality).

Not to downplay the blending process, but the blend is probably the easy part. Think about all the upfront and development cost. A B&M or other retailer comes to you and you agree to do an exclusive blend for them. You search for the right quality and quantity of available tobaccos. Then you have to do the design work around the whole facing. The name, the band, the box, the publicity. Putting all that time and effort and money into a facing that will only release 200-500 boxes, and doing that with 10-12 facings a year? I don't blame them for wanting to try a different approach.

At first quick thoughts prior to reading that article yesterday I said to myself "OH NO." But after reading it and now seeing it here, I don't think it's a bad thing to do. Perfect example was the Tat Whores. Hopefully this was a turn in the forward direction for Tatuaje. They're still getting my $$ anyways!
