I`m friends with @Soundwave13 , He told me about botl and about Pepin. I had never heard of either. I was smoking Gran Habano 2003`s And Rocky patel junk. My life changed once I got here as far as cigars and I also got some great friends. I had never been friends with anyone online before that. Now I talk daily with guys I met here, and we usually get together to herf once a month. The friendships are what I value the most.

I used to look at forums to build some knowledge about the cigar world, and one site that "felt" comfortable (lack of better words) is BOTL. I saw puff and other sites, but wasn't really "chill" I guess. about a month ago I joined BOTL and since then I've been sliding that slope everyone's talking about lol

Had to take a look again at this thread and couldn't believe how long I've been a member here...since 08...that's 8 years and to maintain that long of a membership is quite a feat not only for me but for a site that is still going strong....that's quality. I see a lot of members over the years that almost feels like it's personal because I log on almost every day and see their ID...it's like the bar at Cheers where everybody knows your name. Everybody has their stories as to how they ended up here and people look to be at a place they can call home and feel comfortable...while it's not perfect and everybody at some point tends to get their feelings hurt...they come back to enjoy the real spirit of Cigars and stories and life. That's the success story for BOTL.

Well? Curious to see how all of you found this great community. I found it by a link on Illusione's site. You? Friend? Friend of a friend? Friend of a friend who once knew a guy who knew a friend, who knew a friend that had an in-law who once looked up a review and was lead to this site?

When I was a herfpuppy, and wanted more herf and cigar knowledge, I googled for it. Was often directed to a place named puff. Seemed reasonable, you puff the cigar. But people puffing cigars aren't a herd and dogs likes herds.

Plus, they never acknowledged my registration or answered emails.

After more knowledge search on the Interwebs, my nose smelled good stogies on a place where people thinks they are siblings with plants, or something. Regardless, there was lots of NC information and puppies are curious and attracted to information. Or funny stuff? I never quite know.

Anyway, registration was flawless and once people started to understand barks and woofs, all was good. Traded a bit, played a bit, posted a lot, and discovered the chat.

P.S.: never visit the chat room. It's a dangerous place.

I had just started to get into cigars as a hobby and was looking at storage options on the internet and came upon a few different sites. Lurked for a bit on 4 or 5 sites and joined here and 1 other site. Posted less than 10 times on the other site and I'm approaching 1000 post here . I've belonged to other hobby sites also and never made it past 50 or so posts before all the bickering between other members got to me or there wasn't much action. The internet can be an ugly place and it is great how BOTL has avoided that type of behavior. It is a testament to the men and women who post here and also to the administrators who run BOTL (y). It is amazing how much I have learned in the last 4 years.

Btw, I went from storing my 4 or 5 cigars in a ziplock bag to a 50 count humidor to wineador in the span of about 6 months. Now I have 2 wineadors all because of BOTL ;) and wouldn't change a thing.
