I been asking my wife for the scratch and dent CC-100 wineador from Air-n-Water for a while now and she finally caved for Vday. I wanted find out if there are any digital hygrometers that will fit in the hole where the analog one goes that comes with it. The ones I found that may or may not work are the Hygroset Front Mount and Calibre 4R. Just depends on the dimensions.

Since this wineador is relatively small I plan on just using large Bovedas like I do in my tupperdore and think it will be fine. Should only use the unit to cool in the summer but will most likely be in the basement so it won't need to run that much at all. Don't think I need to go crazy with an external temp control since the temp range is 54-74 and will keep it around 68 or so.

I have some cedar trays already that I'll use on the shelves so once I get it washed, aired out and seasoned I should be able to just move everything over.

Excited to have a more elegant storage solution and don't have to pull out 2 trays to get to stuff on the bottom of my tupperdore.

Leave it to @hakoomay to comment and not leave anything of value.

If you're using Bovedas, you shouldn't even need to use a digital hygrometer. There are quite a few here who set their hygrometer to their Bovedas. You'll know when you need to recharge the Bovedas because they'll get hard.

ouch.

My setup (currently) has a container of KL on the bottom, and boveda packs in each tupperdor in the wino. I bought a hygro kit (linked at the bottom) to get three readings on each level of the wino (top, middle, bottom). Once i get the drawers however, the bovedas will be removed and let the KL do its job. But the bovedas will be on hand just in case.

I do agree with TarHeel about boveda/no hygro, but I like the peace of mind knowing what the rh is at all times.

Get a decent hygro to stash in there somewhere, and just ignore the pretty one. None of the ones designed to fit in that hole is worth looking at.

I use and trust Bovedas but I do like to know what's going on in there both rh & temp. Especially at cooler temps I've found the Bovedas don't quite make what they are rated for.

I have one stuck to one of my trays that I can use and would be able to see without opening if I want to go that route.

What I've read, been told, and experienced, is that boveda hold good rh in smaller areas (humidors, tupperdors, small coolers etc). But when it comes to a larger unit (winos, large coolers) that is opened and closed constantly, they can't keep up with the drastic rh drops. The KL at least hold and release moisture fast enough to maintain rh. I use boveda in my humidor, and it works flawlessly!

The interior dimensions shouldn't be much larger than my 30qt tupperdore and haven't had a problem but I may try the kl + Boveda route.

Picked up everything I need yesterday to get this thing going after the wife actually gives it to me on Sunday. Picked up some KL, spray bottle and distilled water. Can't wait.

I admire your perseverance and thoughtfulness about the rh levels on all three levels of the wino. @ChuckMejia might disagree however.

Based on my personal experience from last night (I just got the whynter version of the cc-100); the caliber 4r will not fit in the analog hygrometer hole because I got one with the same idea in mind. I have seen people who have bored out the hole to fit the 4r and it looked great!

Good to know. Thanks. Wonder if the Hygroset front mount has the same diameter.

For a size comparison I took these two pictures for you

I think what I am going to do is buy at least one more drawer (having never seen a wineador in person the one I got is smaller than I thought it would be) and then before I season it, drill a hole in the front/face of the drawer that will fit the 4r

Wife and I celebrated Vday yesterday since we didn't want to try and get a sitter today. Washed the inside and let it air out for a day. Got it seasoning right now. Looks gorgeous. The only thing I found that could have made them list as a scratch and debt was an indent in the plastic inside on the bottom. The outside is perfect. The trays from my tupperdore fit perfect on the shelves. Can't wait to move in.

I've noticed that no matter where I set the temp the fan runs constantly. Is that normal? I do notice a slight changes in noise when the set temp is dropped below the actual temp.

Got moved in last night after rh had gotten up to 70. Tray of KL on the bottom and 3 65 Bovedas. Was reading 61 this morning. Sprayed the KL some more. Hopefully that brings it up some.
Didn't want to waste time taking pics with it open until it gets stable. Will update when it does.

Had to move the drawer back to the top how it came because after seasoning the wood had expanded to where the drawer was hard against the shelf above it.
