I haven't had an issue yet but I use nylons. Can you shake the kl in a colander or screen before you put it in to get rid of the dust?

do crystal KL give dust as well? Heard thats the better way to go for few reasons, one being the dusting issue. When I make a move to wineador I was gunna try the crystal KL route. Right now Boveda's are the sh!t for me, my 150t hum and tupperdor are both boveda fans ;) haha

It all makes sense now!!

Just put the first few sticks into the wino. Pretty cool to have sticks in there now :) i can probably put my entire stash in there with room to spare, but I'm not going to do that until i get my drawers in May. Don't want to have to move everything back to the cooler while I season the new trays.

I'm consistently 2% lower RH on the bottom than the top. Which is strange to me. Only thing I can think is the drain plug, but i taped the living hell out of it. No way it can be that..

The silica in a pantyhose bag will allow a slight amount of KL dust. I moved to an open "sandwich style" tupperware tray and no more problem.
Since November, I am now using silica KL in 2 little cloth pillows the wife made. They are about the size of a cigarette pack.

I've got 2 in mine. Planning on putting a third when I get my drawers.

Or are you just being a wise guy now? I can never tell.
No, there's a :) when I'm being a wise guy. There are people who have 3 or 4 in theirs, so they would know more. I have one (if that in mine)

Heat rises so it should be a degree or two warmer at the top of your wineadore. And warmer air can hold more moisture, so if you don't have fans circulating air the rh should be slightly lower at the top of your wineadore. At least it works that way in mine.

I have 2 fans circulating the air 12 minutes every hour. Is this why it's lower RH at the bottom vs the top? Granted it's not much. I'm just trying to wrap my brain around this is all.

Do you have a temp reading on your hygrometers? If you do it is an easy thing to see what the temp difference is between top and bottom. So if everything else is the same but the temp is warmer at the top, that should account for the difference. If your temps are the same then I don't know why your rh is different.

Ideally I like mine to read 64 at the top and 66 at the bottom. But I can't tell the difference in my smokes that is for sure. I'm not sure I can tell the difference between 64 and 67. When it gets up around 68/69 they don't stay lit as well and I feel the taste is off a bit. But that could just be in my head.
