I have yet to dive into the pipes at all. I dont even know where to start. My grandfather was a pipe smoker and i loved the aroma and when he passed recently i was given a few of his. I am gonna continue read and learn as much as i can about it so when the time comes finacially that i can really get into i can do it the right way. It seems very interesting with all the different kinds of tobacco and stuff thats out there. As much as i have enjoyed my cigar adventure so far pipes seem to be a little cheaper to get started to have good quality on a more regular basis. Im hoping to ale learn about both and try as many as i can of both as soon as i can and figure out what i like. I do like maduro and fuller flavor cigars so far. Do you have any recomendations for a good but afforadble pipe tobacco to start with?
You'll get all kinds of suggestions but after smoking nearly 50 blends recently, I dont think you can go wrong trying Lane 1q in bulk from a large online vendor or just a tin. Pipes and cigars has it for $25 a pound right now, which is cheap. It will take you a longass time to go through that much. A tin is probably $6 and will last you a bit.
Don't buy it local in bulk because who knows what they are really selling. Lane 1Q is an aromatic, but tastes great to most everyone.
If you like full flavored cigars, you will probably like most every tobacco out there that isn't low quality (Sutcliffe).
You can buy a $6 corncob pipe, light it with free matches (lighters can be too hot and give an ashtray taste) and have $6 worth of tobacco and smoke for a week. Tamp with your finger like a man for free as well (better feedback for a beginner anyway).
Lastly, that cob may taste like corn for a few smokes, but count that as breaking in and fugetaboutit.
I gave a coworker a cob, some lane 1Q and fee pupe cleaners just today!
Just remember, these are my own opinions as a newb who just smoked through 50 blends in 5 diffetent pipes and these codgers may not concur. You won't hate any tobacco, so just go for it, give it a few break in bowls, then you can pursue further. All for 5% the orice of cigars

Also, let me say, don't smoke your Grandfather's just yet. Learn on some shit you don't care about first, then learn how to clean/refurb his up nice and you will be a kid on Christmas, sir.

Thats alot of info but very helpful. Thank you! I will look into the tobacco you mentioned and a cob. I was going to get a cob because i dont know anything about it yet and i didnt want to end up ruining one of his. Missouri meersahuam ( probably spelled that wrong) is the brand cob i should purchase correct?

Thanks i will do that. Here in maybe a month or so im hoping to go out and get a few new sticks and a few i can trade in the newbie cigar trade or maybe i will be able to do a cash trade soon. Then i will head over to the pipe trade.
Take your time. There's no rush for it and stay fiscally responsible. The slopes are VERY slippery here.
