Really? Mine has always been a little moist once you shave off some ribbons. Outside is dry as a popcorn fart. I cut them as thin as possible.

Yep. Greg Pease recommended cutting it as thin as possible from the plug like a ribbon cut. Search it on tobacco reviews, and he talks about it in the description.
I haven't tried the ready rubbed version

I'm pairing it with a Bacardi Oakheart "Oak and Coke." A much better pairing than I expected. The latakia really shines against the smokiness of the barrel aging.
