They list as cigar molds but they are antique auger bit cases.

I was going to make a mold like that. Drill a hole the correct size in a block of wood, then cut it in two with a bandsaw.

Likely that way will not produce sticks as well as you want. That's sort of my first design, the sticks don't compress right with that design.

They old wood ones are designed with the top lip for a reason.

Unfortunately, I don't think wood is able to keep a sharp edge like that. At least, in my experiments, it won't. I may be able to get close to that with a 3d printer with some work on the design.

A wood edge in a 60 year old wooden still works well for my needs
