A Long Night....

Well, I just read Chucks thread about his trip to the ER so I thought I would share mine...

Went to dinner last night with my lady friend and a few others, some Italian/American restaurant. I know that I am allergic to pine nuts so I ask, and I did ask, they said no... so i ordered my steak and all that...

after dinner or about 30 minutes after our entrees come i start feeling like shit... get up to go to the bathroom and tell my buddy that if i am not back in 5 come in after me..

well i get in the bathroom and immediately start violently vomiting, not the casual stuff but yea, the serious shit... (then I go blank.. but this is what I have been told) by the time he gets in there to make sure i am alive I am blacked out on the bathroom floor...

Ambulance comes all that, they say that it is because i have pneumonia or bronchitis cause i have been sick and i am telling them that i cant breathe and that i know it is an allergic reaction...

get to the hospital, 1 IV of steriods, and 1 of Benedryl (which kept me awake).. Dr. says it is an allergic reaction, get an EKG, which comes back messed up and they could not figure out why.. apparently I have a small murmor or something on the left side of my heart that is prohibiting blood from flowing correctly down my right leg....


in any case, check out at 4a.m having been there for 7-8 hours... but I am alive.. now is the time for some fun Dr.'s appts...

DAMN, not another one! Those food allergies are not to be messed with......my daughter is allergic to nuts and been in an ambulance 3 times because of them! You have to be careful and asking doesn't always work.
What really worries me is the heart murmor shit.....plenty of thoughts and prayers coming your way youngin!!!!

yea that came out of nowhere... and he said that i will have to go see a specialist because it did not show up on both EKG's just one.. which might be linked to the large amounts of benedryl in my system at the tiem

Wow Clay, it's probably a good thing that you became ill like that, who knows how long it would've taken to detect the murmor on it's own.

Sounds like Anaphylaxis.....good thing your friend responded quickly.

You gotta be ultra careful my man, from what I know it gets successively worse with each exposure.

I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Yeh, those EKG's are very often wrong or not a good indicator when something else is going on and drugs are involved.......a simple Echo cardiogram will show what's going on if anything. 10 minutes, just take your shirt off.

yea it gets worse the further away the episodes are... and it had been over a yr since my last...

I am fine today, jacked up on medicine... but I came into the office for a little bit to get some work done..

Damn, that's scary! Glad to hear that you're okay for now, but yeah, now you've got to go through all of the doctor appointments, etc. to nail everything down.

Damn Clay. Eventually you may get to the point you eat only what yo can clearly see. Did you check back with the resturant to see about the pine nuts? My nephew has to carry an epi pen because assholes kept feeding him peanuts.

Well, I guess we go take all the fun tests and see what mecial mircle they have in store. Did you get the smoking lecture? The ER doc was pretty cool. The nuero guy was not. I sent the ER doc some Sig VI's.:tonguerol

That's funny Chuck. I've heard that in some countries it's expected that you TIP the doctor.

I would definitely check back with the restaurant. If they screwed up, and fed you nuts, after you asked, the very least I would expect would be them paying the medical bills. I'm not sure I would want a comped meal, because I doubt I would go back. I think the restaurant would be happy to pay the med bills rather than have a lawsuit.

Exactly...It seems cut & dry, he passed out in their bathroom. Not like he went home and then passed out. I'd definitely have a talk with the restaraunt.
