That’s something I’m considering. This particular cooler doesnt have a drain built in.
I would say your best bet would be to have a clean unobstructed pathway to some sort of wicking material then, you'll probably have to keep up on that a lot though on warm days otherwise I bet your coolidor will be getting super moist.

Sheeeiit Im from KC. It will be below freezing here this week by Saturday and 92 at least 1 more time before Thanksgiving!

The point is to maintain temps (for my purposes) and in turn equalize humidity.
Same shit here in indiana lol

This concept would support heating as well. The peltier plates have a cold and a hot side. It can simply be installed the other way around for a heated coolidor. Also, 2 units can be installed, one for heating and one for cooling, with a dual mode temp controller that switched between them.
Oh ya like the little gimmicky 6 can mini fridge deals. That might be something to look into then...

I buy chest type freezers because all the cold air stays in the unit when I open the lid. You may consider a cage for the hot side depending on its exposure, they get hot enough to leave a mark. Great project I look forward to seeing your progress

I though it prudent to test the cooling unit before moving forward, so I hooked it up to a 12v battery.

I could feel cool air blowing almost immediately, but I let it run a bit to ramp up to its full potential. These are temps taken off the cool/hot side heatsinks after 15 minutes.

The hot side gets warm for sure, but nowhere near enough to burn the skin. I grabbed and held onto it for a minute just to confirm.

Condensation did form on the cold heatsink. Nothing too extreme, and not enough to start dripping off. It was like the fine misting you get on your fridge walls and shelves if you keep the door open for a minute. I imagine it would continue to accumulate the longer it runs. I’ve got an idea on how to manage it.

Temp controller arrived today, 12DCV 10A. Got on amazon for $11. It has settings memory so it goes back to the correct temp after a power outage, that’s something that can’t be said for a lot of the wine fridges out there. My aw-121e defaults back to 55 degrees every time, it’s actually really freaking annoying. I live in the country, and my power gets interrupted a lot. I imagine it would cost the manufacturer a few extra pennies to include some flash memory to save the temp setting.

I just realized it’s Celsius only. Think I’m gonna roll with it. I liked this one better than others available, and they don’t have a Fahrenheit model.

The last components have been gathered.

120v AC to 12v DC power supply, 8.5A max $14

2 pack of 12v cigarette lighter style plugs ( only really needed 1) $10. These came with 10A fuses. The cooling unit should only draw 6A, probably going to swap it out for a 7 or 8A fuse.

Hi...I am in the camp that beleives that the eggs are not killed through freezing. Even if most of the eggs are killed the couple that would survive would hatch at the 85 degree temps I keep the house in the summer.

This is an old thread, but curious to know how it turned out.
sad to say this project has been in limbo. I kinda lost interest because my temps usually don’t exceed mid 70s and I actually have been running my legit winos unplugged. Thanks for the reminder. I need to gather everything and get it done. Hopefully soon, I’ll keep you updated of any progress.
