Made the rounds yesterday
I understand the Bakers 7 is being phased out with the Bakers 7 Single Barrel replacing it. The original Bakers is very smooth and easy to drink. This Single Barrel is bottled at the same proof but is 8yrs 6 month old Taste wise the SB is considerably spicier.
I asked my pal at the shop what I should try. This is what he came up with. He convinced me not to confuse this bottling (barrel reserve) with the other Cooper's Craft. Seems the barrel is cross hatched exposing more wood after charring. It took a leap of faith but it followed me home.
Needed a cheap everyday bourbon and sweeter scotch. The Dewars is fairly new but for around $21 a bottle it's worth a shot.
And on the "at that price I have to pickup another bottle" front is the Balvenie Caribbean Cask for $49.99. Another location of the same shop had it at $80
