Had a couple first time for me pours Saturday night at my GF's bar.

Calumet 15 Year was good, a lot of spice on the palate. Not something I would buy at the $129 retail price though.

WT Rare Breed was good although not as good as I had hoped. I guess I'm just a Beam guy. If I get a chance I will give the Kentucky Spirit a try though.

Couple more pours on Sunday:

Fellas been awhile. Here’s some recent pours...some rare gems in there too.

Brought all the way back from Tennessee. Was insanely complex & nuanced

Not available for sale in NJ. I thoroughly enjoyed this one despite not being a huge proprietor for Elijah Craig

Needs no “special”’introduction. We did kill most of that bottle in one sitting.

Since getting into small batch vodkas I don’t normally drink bourbon or rye at home anymore (without a cigar). So I decided why not bring these Willett’s in to enjoy with friends.

Now for those rare gems. This one was on my bucket list to try. It did not disappoint. You’ll see this guy’s bottles on here frequently going forward.

Speaking of which... this too (surprisingly maybe) was also on my bucket list. It’s very rare in Jersey and only ever seen one bottle in the wild, and selling for $199.

This guy was very generous, pouring for anyone who asked. 2nd time having an Orphan Barrel, and each one really impressed me.

I was unsure about Peerless until I tried it, now I can understand some of the hype. Very flavorful.

Some great pours in there, Matt @BourbonBinder , I have yet to try the EHT Barrel Proof as well, good to hear it's really good!

Last night I had one of my WP store picks (13 year SiB).

Thanks Tom. It was certainly good but nowhere near as flavorful or complex as my 2018 George T Stagg. Hopefully the craze for it will die down because it was very easy to enjoy, even at its 129.7 Proof. Notes of fresh garden soil (earth), macchiato, and raw honey.

Definitely not a bourbon but this is what I’m knocking back lately these hot summer nights. I’m going to be getting into the Small Batch side soon enough. The goal is to be able to vastly improve my palate for tasting whiskey with the subtle nuances vodka has to offer.

Yo Tom @icehog3 - I'm gonna try and peruse the stores today and tomorrow on my way home from work. Assuming Booker's isn't in any of those stores, what are a few other recommendations for my first "grown man" bourbon? Hopefully they will have at least one of those in stock.

High proof stuff I dig, Carlos:

Knob Creek Single Barrel (120 proof)
Old Ezra 7
Whistlepig 10 Year Single Barrel
Rebel Distiller's Collection
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof
Baker's

So many more I enjoy, the list could go on and on.

Thanks! I'm sure I can locate at least one of the above. I'll finally be able to relegate my Turkey 101 bottle to mixer status. :D

Holy HELL your stuff is hard to find. :ROFLMAO: Two stores, two strikeouts. Didn't stop me from picking up a bottle of a little something that seemed to be highly recommended. To tide me over while the hunt continues!

You should like that one. I've been really happy with the ones I've had.

If you want a really good, higher proof option that should be on every shelf, grab an Old Forester 1920. Or a WT Rare Breed. And most 4R SiB are great at 100 of. Better if you can find a Store Pick at barrel strength.

@BourbonBinder , too funny Matt, Stoli Vodka was my go to from college until probably about 10 years ago. I thought i was clean and I actually liked it better than the top shelf pours.

Couple pours last night while smoking with friends:

Second time today I’ve heard of this Old Scout, sold under a local grocery stores house brand. Buddy said for $50 it’s hard to beat.
