I still keep Woodford Reserve, Evan Williams, Pappy 20 and Blanton's stocked even though it's been over twenty years since I drank any. Most of my friends have converted to bourbon after listening to me tell of it's marvels over the years. They seem to visit me a lot.

Damn Tedski, that's a nice freaking list. I've heard all kinds of wonderful things about the birthday bourbons, and if it weren't for the fricking price on the AH Hirsch it would be not only at the top of my list, but probably already in my cabinet (Binny's has the 21 yr @ $109/bottle if they ship your way). I've never had any, but on reputation alone I'd pick up a bottle if it were only a bit cheaper. I still need to pick up some of the Pappy to try though. At least there I can start young and progress upwards in age and price.

Well like I said, I'm not a big bourbon drinker (my selection of rums is much better) ... but like cigars, I do prefer variety. A couple of these bottles were gifts too.

I agree the Hirsch is damn expensive - but once the supply is gone, it's gone for good.

And when you start on the Pappy - go for the 12 yr. It's as smooth as a baby's ass, has lots of complex flavors and not too expensive at $35.

Jeff, what's your take on Knob Creek? If you haven't tried it I recommend it. Much more bold than MM or the Eagle Rare (17 yr, haven't had the 10 but have to assume it's not that much different). I'd say it's more along the lines of Stagg, but it still pales in comparison.

I heard from a good friend that the current version of AH Hirsch (gold foil) is pretty harsh compared to earlier versions.

So I think I modify my buy list to:
Blanton's Single Barrel

I'll also need a replacement for the Van Winkle 12yr bottle I polished off tonight while winning $50 at Texas Hold-em at my brother house. I was the final winner at the table ...
