So my cell battery just doesn't hold its charge anymore.

Does anyone have a reputable online store that sells them on the cheap?

Depending on your carrier you may be able to get it replaced for free ... especially if you're out of or nearly out of your current contract. I'd call up your carrier's local shop and ask before buying one online.

I would just type in the search for the battery model number on ebay or amazon. Just look for the one that has the best price. I've done this for ipod batteries, camera batteries, laptop batteries, and I've always had good results.

I didn't even think something like this would be picked up by them.

I have Verizon and the phone is about a year old.

Have bought several aftermarket accessories from ebay and have always been happy and usually at a 75% or better savings. Last one was the car charger for my phone. $40 in the store, $6 shipped on ebay. Look for high seller ratings.

Another thought - it could be your charger. I had a Sanyo phone with the pole-style power adapter. Eventually the connection became loose and Sanyo sent Sprint a bunch of the new flat-style chargers. Sprint exchanged mine for free and my battery started working again once it was able to get a full charge.

Then I would go back to Verizon. They would have the factory replacement you see. Maybe a bit more money. But it will be the right battery for the phone you have.

Particularly if you have the insurance on the phone. They keep replacing mine and when they couldnt, they upgraded. Oh and if the battery not working is not a viable reason to trigger the insurance, you know what to do right?

I'd recommend getting an OEM battery for your phone as opposed to knockoff brand..... I've found in the past that knockoff replacements don't seem to hold a charge nearly as well as the one that came with my phone originally...
