Last night I think I had a revelation!
I think I know the difference between Islay, Highland, lowland, & Speyside whiskys.
I started off with a Dowmore 17 then tried the Balvenie 15. HUGE difference. The islay is a smokey drink while the highland is a sweeter & cleaner tasting. I also had a glass auchentoshan triple wood that was sort of on the sweeter side but different than the the highland, was a little toasty but not smokey. The speyside Glenlivet was very clean but slightly sugary.
So am I starting to get it?
