I've used them for travel ziplocks or for mail bombs, but they do not regulate enough for long term storage. However my B&M has them for a buck a piece, so the price is right.

What if you throw a tiny ammout of heartfealt beads in a tiny ziplock back?
and punch some holes in the zip lock? make sure it's not dripping, and use that? would that work?
Supposidly the beads are safe to touch the cigars?

Beads are safe to touch cigars, but I think the pillows are a cheaper way to humi something being sent or a quick travel. I personally use a tiny boveda pak in my Pelicandor... Works great. Beads and Boveda in everything else!

Why more expensive?
say 1$ for water pillow?

1 pound hearfert = Price: $28.95
300 small ziplock bags, 5 bucks or less goggling for 2 minutes

1/2 ounce beads = 270 cubic inches

I figue you can make 40-50 baggies minimum out of a pound that would (I PM'd Viper to ask about this, waiting for reply).
So thats less than 1$ beads per baggie.

So maybe the beads are a few cents more, but not sure about that even.

Alot of work if you ask me, and either way, we are talking about short term storage. several days to a week is all I would use them at least for the same package and cigars.

the pillows are not as precise as beads or bovedas. but they do have thier place.
you can use them to season a desktop. the construction is a cloth like material on one side(this side releases humidity), and a soft plastic on the other side. so you can fully charge them with distilled water, put them in your humidor plastic side down, and you have a cheap seasoning device that can be reused when you are done. for seasoning, you would not place them in the supplied ziploc bag.
i am getting nice results in ziploc cigar bags. i charged 1 pillow with 1 teaspoon of distiiled water. it swelled up a little bit, but its still pretty thin. it has been in the ziplock for 2 days, and its a 69%.
in a clear lid otterbox(same size as a 5 stick cigar caddy), i am using another with 1 teaspoon of water. same deal, its at 68%.
one of my major concerns with the pillows was that i figured it would overhumidify a ziploc or cigar caddy. after 2 days, it hasnt happened.

my latest experiment was charging a pillow with 2 teaspoons of 50/50 mix. it took a long time for the pillow to absorb the PG (about 8 hours). i then slipped the pillow into its little ziploc. its been in a zipoc for about 36 hours. its been at 70% for about 24 hours. so that experimant is working well.

do they have the precison of beads and bovedas? no. do they have some use to us? yes.
c

some more pillow advice. normally, you keep the little ziploc closed, and the humidity escapes out the 2 little holes in the ziploc. if your desktop is leaky, and you need to boost humidity, open the ziploc.

I have been using the one Ron sent me along with a cigar ziplock, not a sandwich bag, I put 5 sticks in the bag with a fully charged water pillow. I just soaked the pillow in distilled water for a few seconds and it swole up fat. After 2 days, my hygo reads 71%. I have not opened the bag at all since zipping it. I'll keep this updated later this evening and see if the RH goes any higher.

I recieved mine. I will be making a baggie for myself either today or tommorow, that I will use when I go to Rhode Island this comming weekend.
Ill keep checking on it during this week, I assume all should be well though.
I actually ordered a few water pillows so when I ship boxes to people from now on, I can include that in the bag to keep the cigars fresh.
I meantioned my bead theory to Viper (Heartfelt) and he said he was already thinking about that kind of thing, and if there is a way to make a sellable product out of it.
I would prefer something like that over a water pillow, cause then we can refill and keep passing around bead bags when we trade.

Ok as of this morning, with out opening the bag for 3 days, my rh is up to 75% and as a note the 5 sticks I put in there with it, were stored at 65% prior to thier new home. The pillows would not be good for any long term storage, but and I repeat but, if you were going to open that ziplock and remove a stick once or twice a day, you would be just fine. Of course for bombing runs they will work perfectly.

just dip a pillow half way in water for about 10 seconds.
Right on, I will see if that makes a difference and set up an additional ziplock , like you sent. I also have aquired an addtional pillow so I'll set ip up when I get home.

I have had a few sticks in the bag for 2 days now, I open the bag in the morning and in the evening, to cycle the air, and mimic me on the trip. I will be leaving on saturday morning for the trip, so the cigars are what I am taking with me.
Humidy for me using the HeartFelt Hygro has been bettween 67-70%. It drops right after I open the bag, but rebounds very quickly, due to the small space I imagine.
The highest read I saw so far was 72 when Left clost for 13 or 14 hours.
In general, I found my heartfelt hygro's to be 3-5 % lower so really, I think the humidity is ranging 69-74. It's a little higher than I would like, but not terrible.
I guess on the weekend we will see how the smokes light and burn after sitting at that percentage for a couple days.

I got one from a buddy and I will say that I like the little pouch it comes with now better than the open top baggie that they used to come with.
