Just like any other cigar smoker, I've always wanted my own man cave - a replica of your local cigar lounge. I've come to the realization that I am not a man that needs his garage for tools, cars, general storage, ect - I'd much rather convert it into a man cave.

A few leather club chairs, a nice TV, mini fridge, tons of posters, pictures, vintage cigar paraphernalia, somehow put all of my empty cigar boxes on display, and so forth.

Ventilation wise, what do you all think would work best? My garage is 20x20. As of right now, its bare studs - no drywall has ever been hung. Now would be the time to add some form of air circulation -

Input, thoughts, ideas?

On DIY there is a show called Man Caves. You should check it out.

In a garage a simple exhaust fan would work.

I put in the quietest bathroom fan I could find. It works for one smoker if I crack the door so air pulls in. Two guys and it begins to get a little heavy heavy. I am looking at a pull fan that is very high power that is situated at the end of the flexible duct so there is less noise. It has a lot of suction and should pull the smoke up and out. I dont have much of a heating problem as we are close to the beach.

i suppose that there is quite a bit of air in 20x20 so you have a lot to move. good luck. maybe go to manards or home depot and just look at what they have maybe you will find something that you have not thought of that would work great for you situation thats how i roll with most of the project i do. seems to work out if you not quite sure in the beginning

Thank you all for the replies..

Do you really think a simple exhaust fan in a window would do the trick for 20x20? (not being sarcastic)

I do not have any windows in the garage that open, I also don't want the garage door to be operable. My main goal is to have absolutely no natural light in the room, but still have pretty good ventilation/circulation.

I will definitely check out Home Depot and see what other ideas I can come up with..

CWS - Thats another thing I was thinking about, I wont have A/C in the garage.. How does the temperature do in your room? (Where are you located on the west coast?)

The room I built is 10X12 in one bay of a three bay garage. I would have loved bigger but that is what I had and it sits two very comfortably and four in a pinch. I left the door so I could bring stuff in and out easily then put up a 2X4 frame and wall board. I put a vent right in the middle of the ceiling in the room and used the fan I mentioned and 1X1 foot flexible ducting to a gable vent in the roof garage and to the outside. Two recliners, 42 inch plasma with sony surround sound , HD dish network, persian rug (fake), oak shelves and two antique ice chest end tables with Stinky ashtrays and one free standing stinky ashtray with stand When it gets really cold,, (rare) I have a ceramic heater that does the job in minutes, when it gets too warm in mid summer, I open the door a foot and get a nice breeze. I tied a through the wall airconditioner but never used it. Light comes from a trumpet floor lamp and I am installing a couple of drop ceiling lights. It s where I am right now!
