Dave, just call it "kismet", but I had a feeling you'd kinda like the beer theme. I might have to make you an extra tray-what's yer favorite brew? You know of course, I'll have to down the beer to get the can.........:glassesgr

I'm gonna do some phone work today, see what I can come up with. It has to bend enough to get the arch effect, but still go back to flat so as not to take up a bunch of space. The cradle most assuredly won't bend flat, 1/8" cold rolled and 1" .60 wall tubing-beefy.
Well if the beer can will go back flat I say we use that. It can be replaced easily enough. As far as my favorite brand, I lke Cold beer, followed closely by free beer.

I sent a PM to Trumpetchris-he's the one that has an original. Hopefully he can get a mic or a set of calipers to measure the thickness on his original.

Stand by, gents

This is why I love this place. The amount of knowledge encapsulated around here is mind boggling. Nice work Vorra. I'll be curious to see how this turns out.

Hey, aren't Foster's cans a little more sturdy? At least they used to be. Also, maybe a Heineken Keg can?.....It's been a while since I drank anything from a can actually

Hey, Fosters is a great idea. That is a thicker can, I think the Heineken keg has a shape that might not work.

A question to those that have a real Oneoff ashtray... Has it continued to stay flat after repeated use? I'm thinking that the tray on the original may have a memory as well, but it's the leather case that keeps it flat. So maybe it doesn't matter that the .025 has some memory.

If it is a problem for some, then a suitable case could be made, probably by just going to the local leather shop and getting them to stich up 2 pieced of stiff leather.

Perfect, still waiting on Chris for the original. As soon as it gets here, I'll trace the cover out and scan it plus some pic's-then I'll shoot them off to you. BTW, I did score some very nice .016 brass sheet. As soon as the original gets here, I'll throw a mic on it and we should be good to go.
