...been trying to get this done for over 10 years now. Corneas are too thin for Lasik, so had to go with PRK.....

Any other brothers had either Lasik or PRK done?

Had Lasik 6yrs ago......still looking good. Had the typical "bottom coke bottle" lenses before. Now good to go!

A friend did, loved it but he had it done when we was younger and his eyes changed a bit.

I would like to do this someday.

I'm not quite as blind as Ray was but close enough.

Sigh.

Good luck Daniel.
Thanks Todd. My eyes are -7.5 and have been for a long time. Like I said, I've been waiting a decade to do this. Hell, 3 years ago I was even sittin' in the chair, paper hat and slippers on, Valium in my system and staring at a little red light. Doctor decided I didn't have enough cornea thickness to proceed.....

Since then, both my brothers, my sister and my wife have had it done..... not to mention several friends/acquaintances.

Hope you get a chance soon bro.

Wow, your eyes are much worse then mine. Although, as blind as I feel at -4.75 any worse is like calling one sock blacker then the other...we are both blind as bats.

Haven't needed the procedure, but I was a field engineer for the company that developed PRK in the late 80s. I've observed it hundreds (maybe thousands) of times.

Whenever I see a PRK/LASIK thread on any forum, someone invariably will pop in with a warning about being blinded or some such nonsense. It's never happened. Of course, it is surgery which, regardless of type, always carries some risk.

No, not too worried about that. Although I do realize that it is surgery and shit happens...

I had Lasik about 11 years ago - I was legally blind without my glasses.

Around 20/20 still to this day. It's slipping; at one point I had better than "perfect" eyesight, but I am noticing I can't see things in the distance quite as well any more. So it goes.

You'll be delighted you did it!

If his surgery was anything like mine - and it may've been, he mentioned Prince Valium - Daniel is sound asleep with blacked-out goggles and gauze on his eyes right now. :hysterica

My wife just had it done in January and loves it. Just expect that you will have dry eyes for the rest of your life and will probably have to use eye drops. You will probably have really dry eyes for the first 6 months, but I think dry eyes is worth the being able to see.

I would like to get lasik one day. I won't have to worry about dry eyes though. My eyes are always watery anyway.
