with Kelly Downs holding his kids, my sister used to babysit for him during that period, so we got him to sign it for us, I was in one in SD once and thought it was a truck going by outside, and a few years ago was in a tornado here in AZ that came 100 feet from touching the ground, now that was like a train going by, hurricanes I used to surf in in FL growing up, never thought that much of it but the only way yuo can get waves on the Gulf of Mexico big enough to surf on. beats a 3 hour drive across the state just to go surfing.

I still remember Game 4 of the Bay Series, SF vs Oakland, when I was kid. Like '84 I think it was? That was a bit scary.

Some may find this interesting,

http://www.data.scec.org/chrono_index/imperi79.html

Was 20 when I rode this one out-6.4. Was at a buddies house in El Centro, standing in his front yard on crutches. 20 seconds before it hit, all the dogs in the nieghborhood started barking-and what seemed like seconds after they stopped barking it went scary quiet-bam. After all the shakin and shit, we found ourselves in the middle of the street going "holy shit". Then we both burst into laughter, when we saw my crutches laying in the front yard.

I've seen pools half emptied in a decent shaker.

Stiil would rather be in on a shaker than any hurri or nado. As long as your'e not in a high rise or on a bridge, it eventually stops. Gotta admit though, it will get your heart pumping since it comes outta nowhwere.

I'm glad your all safe!
We have the same drill up here,
but...
at least you guys don't have to see volcanoes all day and practice the "drills" for escaping from them.

I was working in Northern CA in 94, I had the unhappy time of going to the Northridge Quake, Man did that suck, my whole crew was screwed up for a while after that, I wouldn't wish that on anyone .......

Man, y'all stay safe out there.

I only lived in Cali for 3.5 years...the earthquakes didn't bother me back then, but I don't think I could take 'em now.

Never even got out of bed during the 1971 Northridge quake. . .:smokingco
I did. I had a bourbon bottle collection on shelves over my bed. The ground started shaking, I rolled out of bed and 20 punds of glass fell on my pillow. Not the brightest place to store glass aparently.

All the dogs started barking because the earth emits low frequency waves before an earth quake and we humans can't detect it, with or without machines, but dogs can. Kinda befuddling that dogs can do something that we humans can't

That, Chuck, was a good reason to be more motivated that I was. . .:nodlaugh:

Makes sense. Was real spooky, actually other than the dogs barking it was deathly calm right before the EQ started.

I lived in LA County for about 11 years and remember a few earthquakes when I was still in bed and rode them out. The one that should've been scary but wasn't was in October of 1987 (or was it 1988). At about 9 am I had just gotten into my car after buying some nuts for my mom in the wholesale district east of downtown LA. All of sudden the car and the buildings around it started shaking. I was amazed that none of the old brick and glass buildings collapsed around me.
