National Anthem

Was anyone watching the National Anthem on tonights Monday Night Football? I don't know about you, but sometimes it's better to sing it the way it was written. The stupid theatrics and note/tone changes that certain performers throw in completely detract from the importance of, and essentially end up ruining, the song.

Hopefully it's the last time that chic (Kat Deluna) gets to sing it because I feel like she just butchered the hell out of it. It isn't a "Pop" song so don't try to make it one! :frownno::frownno::frownno:

This is a pet peeve of mine. It's our country's national anthem for crying out loud! Stop trying to turn it into a love song or a damn hip hop piece!!! The worst was when Whitney Houston changed the damn meter of the song. She put 4 beats in every measure instead of 3!!!!:cursing::cursing::cursing: Open your damn mouth and sing it with some pride!!!!!!

Seriously though, I know what you're saying Kevin, and as a matter of fact, I started a thread here about the National Anthem...somewhere, but I remember it being sung the traditional way and it just teared me up.

That said, the Marvin Gaye version gives me chills every time I hear it.

YES!! You are absolutely right, imho. When my band plays it we play with a very spirited tempo, gets the crowd fired up.

I agree with all of you on the national anthem, I hate all that "POP" music bullshit, of taking a song and introducing an extra 5 minutes worth of song in just stupid vocal scaling. Damn that drives me f*cking nuts. If you want to sing like that go over to singing opera.
