Because pretty much everything George Lucas has done Star Wars-related since 1997 has basically pissed all over my childhood memories. No one in the history of the world has been able to fuck up a good thing quite like George Lucas.
I hear what your saying. But you also have to acknowledge that Star Wars itself would not exist without Lucas. I don't care if he has a damn thing to do with the direction, but if his creativity and imagination are involved it should provide for an interestng project. And of course this is JMHO

Uh, yeah, of course I acknowledge that Star Wars wouldn't exist without Lucas....since, you know, it's his creation. (isn't that obvious? lol)

I also acknowledge that he went off the deep end in the 90's and everything he's done since has been utter shit.

i liked the prequels!! didn't he write those too?
Yes he wrote them but that's much of the stuff people haven't enjoyed (post 97 when Phantoms script was finalized & shooting began)

I enjoyed the prequals because I LOVE the characters & universe. I did NOT enjoy the prequals because I felt they were a different world than the original trilogy created. I know the higher you are, the longer you fall but he was TOO utopian & happy with his Pre-Empire (Govnm't, not movie) world. The feel of Ep I-III was just too far of a contrast for it to be right, for me. This is because George created it rather than reverse-evolving it; if that makes sense.

I too much rather have the first trilogy (Episode V!), and found the prequels as a mere failed attempt of a plan 30 years old.

I wont be watching the cartoons, but that new video game that came out is OK, Force Unleashed I think. I got it for the WII and it is entertaining so far.

I'll check it out. I'm a bona fide SW geek.

Probably play some Force Unleashed right before to get me in the mood.

I think, despite the sarcasm , that I agree with you, just without the perceived hatred for Lucas. The original trilogy was not even comparable to episodes I-III. I knew it was over for me the minute i saw Jar Jar Binks. So, back to my original position, i will not be watching this. I think another part of the problem is the revolutionary advances in special effects, cgi, etc. Lucas was already known for his s.e., when he did episodes I-III it was overkill. He was way too involved in the cinematography and not enough in the plot and character development. It would be sort of like me being in a humidor, seeing Cabaiguan guapos, but completely ignoring boxes of Opus' on my way.

Good thoughts. I think people also need to realize that Lucas has ALWAYS been on the forefront of special effects. Original trilogy effects, Invention of the PIXAR technology, first implimentation of Green Screen technology and digital effects for television, etc.

I am just a SW Geek too, I loved IV, V, & VI. But I also like I, II, III, as well but not as much as the first three. I love it all for what it is, a movie I try not to get too much into what he did too diffrent in his newer movies compared to his older movies. Since technology changes all movies are going to be diffrent over time. And on another front I look at it like Episode I,II,III every thing was new everyone had the money and all of the ships looked nice. In IV,V,VI they have been on the run for years and they ships are now all beat up and crudy looking. But like I said I just love Sci Fi.
