To actually get into your home system (keyloggers, remote vulnerabilities, etc.), they'd either need a warrant or your permission. It's more likely that they'd look at your internet history via publicly available records (google search, etc.). It's conceivable that they could get access to your browsing history through your ISP, depend on what is logged and how cooperative the ISP is.Just to be clear, I'm not an employee yet, and am concerned about my home system.
Good point there. If I were you, I'd be more concerned about the investigators coming across nervous posts like the one above.

Yeah, some people in the government don't play by the rules. For a background investigation, though, I doubt they'd cross that line.To actually get into your home system (keyloggers, remote vulnerabilities, etc.), they'd either need a warrant or your permission. Allegedly!

Most positions, secure positions, in the govt you will sign and agreement that allows them these kind of priviledges ie access to your ISp etc. When you go to work for the govt, you agree to Big Brother looking over your shoulder. To actually get into your home system (keyloggers, remote vulnerabilities, etc.), they'd either need a warrant or your permission.
