There are a couple guys I spoke to about visiting Costa Rica. They said it was awesome and are considering purchasing a property there.
Costa Rica is one of the only Vacations I have been one where I did not want to go home. And I'm not talking about the "oh dang is the week over already?" kind of don't want to go home...But I was really trying to figure out a plan that would let me stay and earn a living. And it would be the first place I would buy If I had the money for a vacation place.

The people were amazing the beaches and diving were beautiful. I have no idea about golf. The one problem is that you have to fly into San Jose, which is right smack in the middle of the country. So fromthere you have to travel to the coast. We took a 4 hour bus ride to a little beach called CoCo. If I get to spend another week there, I can die happy. Oh yeah and the waves and fishing are unreal

That's what I hear Dave. I heard there are some real estate auctioning sites that sell properties down there. Last guy said he saw a house with an acre or two of land for $25,000! Location depends somewhat and condition of the house but hell if you sold yours and bought that you'd have left over.

We were looking as well. to make it desireable I need to live close to the coast. But when dealing with the mountain roads there even being 20 miles from the coast can be a hour drive. So near the coast in the South western region was about 100K for a 3 bedroom and about acre plus of land. You have to have a 4x4 with a wench to live there. Dirt bikes are almost a must as well. There are plenty of American and European communities with English speaking schools. I WILL live in CR sometime in the furture.

Does your wife know that your planning on getting a wench when you move there?
