I was wondering how everyone goes about seasoning their humidor.
I don't mean to be that guy and come off as a dick when I mention the search function, or even just looking through the Storage forum. However, keep in mind that questions as basic as seasoning a humidor, must've been talked about on BOTL a few times. In addition, I did a Google on "season a humidor" and got results on 123,000 pages. Lots of information on the web about how to season a humidor. Lots of different opinions on how to do it. Read a bit and do the one you feel most comfortable with.

Well I do apologize then. It was late & I was tired when I posted this. So I didn't even think about goggling it.

maybe he wanted a personal testament instead of hoping he picks the right one:dunno:

I used a bowl of distilled water in combo with some beads, but i have friends who have bought seasoning "kits" from bovedo, etc.......Adam

I use a shot glass full of distilled water and don't mess with it for weeks until she holds steady.........I don't even wipe it down......just open it to refill the shot glass.

wipe down your humi with distilled water, then take a cup of really hot distilled water and put it in your humi, let the steam absorb into the cedar. Repeat process a couple of times, seasons a humi in half the time. I also had no warping issues either.

That's exactly my point though, you can talk to five guys, and get five "personal testaments" and each one may be different...and they'll all probably work fine. Common sense is the key, soak your humidor in a 10 gallon bucket of distilled water for two weeks...not such a good idea, follow any of those five guys methods...probably will work just fine.

yup, you just have to be really careful that the steam is isn't rising right next to the wood, or you might have warping. I've heard that this method works well for large humidors (cabinets and such) that can often take a long time to season.

the only reason I did that method was that I have a glass top humi. I have never had an issue. But yes you have to be careful. I was young an inpatient. Plus I had a box of cigars that needed to get a home. So it took me like 8 hours to season. And the humi has been great ever since.
