Back when I was younger and a lot lighter in the ass, I loved to hike. Now I'm older and smarter...camping is anything less than a Holiday INN...I hike to the truck, then back in...

I love the outdoors......as long as I am in a city. Out in the country, there's things like wolves, water buffalo's, rats, eagles, shrews, lions, snakes and penguins.

It is entirely too dangerous to go out in the wilderness for an overnight trip unless you are equipped with a flame thrower and possibly a rocket launcher.

Funny you mention that... we have been looking into it. Have you been there?
Dang Jay, sorry for the delay. I'll look for the book.

Yes, it is truly amazing...once you hit the trail you are absolutely secluded from civilization.

Yeah i love hiking. being in a venture crew helps. SC has some great trails very scenic swampy trails with alot of history. the only bad thing is SC is pretty much flat so there is no "climb to the top and enjoy a great view" feeling. I have hiked alittle of the AT and I love hiking NC

I love hiking as well. I've never done anything to serious. But I love day hikes. I love being in the great outdoors! Fishing, hiking, camping, & smoking. Check out www.steepandcheap.com you may find some good stuff there. They change the items constantly.

I love camping, but unfortunately haven't been out in the last two years. I like to hang around the fire playing guitar & smoking stoogies though. Not much of a hiker. Day hikes are even rare. (& I live about 5 miles from the AT).

I'm a backpacker. Used to go several times a year, but now we're down to once, maybe twice, a year. We've done the Smokies countless times. Been to all areas of the park and have done many, many of the trails. usually stay out for 4-5 days, depending upon how much bourbon we feel like carrying, typcially 2 fifths per man minimum.

Last year we went to rED river gorge in KY. THis year we went to Seneca Rocks/Dolly Sods area of WV. Dolly Sods was one of the best all around hikes we've done...great trails (easy-moderate), great camp sites and perfect weather...good liquor and stuff too!!! We'll probably go back there again next year.
