Little Miss Perfect? WTF?

So here I am flipping through channels, I come across this program I have seen it advertised for a while and everytime I see it I want to throw something at the TV. It's a reality Program on young girls doing Beauty Pagants. Now WTF is the deal with that? What little girl needs to be doing beauty pagants? Why? And these aren't like walk up smile wear a nice outfit and sing a song type pagant. These are full blown beauty pagants, Minus the Swinsuit section. Full hair, make-up and evening gowns. WTF FOR!!

These are kids, What kind of self absorbed bitch of a mother would want that for her daughter? WOW! I just couldn't belive what I was sitting there watching. :eyequiver

P.S. To all the brothers out there, if your young daughter is in a beauty Pagant circut, I am sorry in advance.

Ah no way, you can't compare athletics to this. Athletics teaches discipline, sportsmanship, and is good excersie for kids. This beauty pagant crap only teaches young girls that if you are not the pretiest than your a loser. I also will teach girls that the only thing that matters are looks, and yu know what that has a tendency to lead to later, stuck up biatches for women. Or anorexia.

Oh I agree completely. I think it's sick and offensive to women, and I'd NEVER let a young daughter do that. If as a teenager she really wanted to and I felt she was responsible and mature enough to handle it, than okay.

I was down on the coast fishing one day several years back. After fishing the morning with little success, we decided to dock the boat and walk to a nearby Burger King. This Burger King was across the street from the colliseum where they were holding a child bueaty pagent. There were at least 30 little girls dressed up in there, most I would say were around 5 - 6 years old. I am only guessing their age because of their size. From the neck up they looked to be in their 20's. I was so disturbed by this for some reason. I wanted to bitch slap the mothers for allowing this to happen. Most of the mothers were cutting the young girls hamburgers into small bite size pieces so they would not mess up their lipstick. I think this should be outlawed. You cant tell me that these things aren't a bright flashing beacon for pedifiles. My daughter will never be allowed to be in a pagent like that!

In a way I find some similarities to a Golf Digest article interviewing Hank Haney. He was talking about how parents are chastised because they seem to be living vicariously through their kids. He pointed out he's more worried about the parents who don't get involved in their kids lives and I agree. These kids will learn right from wrong, winning from losing, work ethic and will not necessarily get a 21st place trophy like all the soft kids we're raising now do. Not all families/girls situations are equal, but in general, I wouldn't necessarily give it a WTF, these girls are learning valuable life lessons that most kids wont.

Now there is another show about the same thing. It's called Painted Babies. I just can't get past how fanatical the mothers are about these things. Modeling lessons, voice lessons, regular hair and make up sessions, New costumes and cloths.

Plus why the hell does a 5 year old need to win a friggin car in a pagant?

Friggin 5 years old in beauty pagents. Half of them can barely pronuciate words correctly yet and their mothers have them on a stage looking like a tramp and shaking their asses while they try to sing. What the hell has happened to people now a days. :argh:

I have no problem with them being in beauty pageants. Everyone needs a hobby, right? But it's the money they spend that's the ridiculous part.
