I find the whole pagent thing for the very young kids creepy. Kids should look and act like kids and women should look and act like women. A six year old with a trophy wife hair do, fancy gown and heavy make up is creepy.

Ah Come on Wade, With putting these little girls in pagants like that and having their mothers drill them like Marines. What are they going to learn? All these girls are going to learn is how to either be the most beautiful or a loser. Or that if they aren't thin then they are ugly. What good other than winning or losing can be taught from this kind of display of young girls? We aren't talking about little kids gymnastics or flag football.

WTF Kelly, you got a problem with my CORPS as well. I think it's a good thing to teach these kids makeup and hair stuff. I never met a woman Marine that was squared away with that shitz.

SEMPER FI, DO OR DIE!!!:cbig:

A family member of mine is a producer for one of these shows and there's a lot more to it than meets the eye. Sure probably not the best thing for parents to put there children into, but it's not all as bad as it may look.

These are kids, What kind of self absorbed bitch of a mother would want that for her daughter? WOW! I just couldn't belive what I was sitting there watching. :eyequiver
I think you answered your own question, Kelly. Ever read about how screwed up some child actors become? And lot of it is the result of their mothers wanting them to be child stars. (Jay North and the guy that played Jeff on Donna Reed come to mind. Buffy from Family Affair would fit in there too.) The Jeff dude even wrote a book about it, I think.

I agree. Why can't their parents let them be six instead of a slutty sixteen.

I agree with you guys, I would never do that to a daughter. I feel that you should encourage kids to be active and participate in things but never be overbearing and borderline crazy about it.

But it isn't to far out of league to what Wade said about the golf thing. I saw it all through high school in sports. Dads who made their kid kick 100 footballs everyday all summer long. and shit like that.

In the long run when you do that to your kid, and force them to do things like that in that manner, all you will eventually do is build that kid to resent you when they get older.

Ok… it's always been awesome as a little girl to watch your mom dress and use her shoes, but the fact that these mothers now, send they're daughters to these shows?! It's not right, it's like telling your daughter "Your not beautiful". My mom always said that i looked beautiful without make up and i always believed her and till the day i don't use make up, i only use it when i'm gonna go out for a special day or event.

I would never, in the future when i have a daughter, let her put on make up or "grown ups" clothes. They would have a different mind completely, they wouldn't be kids anymore, they would be a weird kind of adolescent.

… In my opinion.
