Hey, don't be shy, we're a good bunch of guys. I've been checking the home page to see who's on lately at night/early morning and I see a lot of names that I don't recognize. As I look at their profile, some of you guys have been here a month or two and have yet to introduce yourselves. So gentlemen, speak up! :ccowboy:

Dangit, the guy who joined in Aug of 07, was in this thread and still didn't post!!!
 I don't know why anyone would join a community and then not participate.. unless he's one of those secret service guys monitoring the site to see if we're dealing Cubans. Either way I think we need to devise some sort of policy for inactive users, if you haven't made a post in a year from your joining date your account should be locked.

I used to feel the same way, but hey, if the guy comes around to read, learn and that's fine with him, it doesn't bother me. I would be nice to see them post from time to time. Now if they signed up and didn't log back on for a year...yeah, then delete their account.

I see where you're coming from but you can read stuff without being a member here. Membership priveleges give you access to perhaps the Habano's lounge, reviews and perhaps the search function. But then again a simple google search will land you all the info you want from this site so :dunno: I guess if you're going to sign up might as well drop in and say hi after all they must've read about others doing the same.

This is just my opinion, but if someone wants to just lurk around to get info, why not? It would be nice to get to know them a little bit, but maybe they don't like interacting on a forum like this. If we want to encourage members to be more active here I don't think de-activating accounts is the way to go.

In re: chat rooms. I've always felt that's how cliques get started and grow. Besides, how would some of you post whores keep inflating your numbers???

We have a chat going on our site almost 24/7 and I have made a ton of friends because of it. Also its great for the new guys as they can always drop in the chat to get help if they need it. The Chat has also grown into some convintions all over the world pretty cool really.

Don't you ever feel like we need a chat room on here? instead of thread jacking just take it to the chat room?
There are a couple of forums I am on that have chat rooms and it makes it a great place to hang out and talk in real time. For some people this is easier for them to get to know others on a forum because they have a real time connection instead of a protracted thread post relationship. Other just like the anonymity and don't post at all because of the "once its out there it stays out there" view. Everybody has their own reasons for being in a forum but as was said, if you don't post any comments what is the use of being in a forum if you don't speak up,,,forums are set up to get everyones point of view and this particular forum,,,BOTL,,,is pretty easy to speak up in and not have your words stuck back in your rear,,,a lot of mature members here who take things in stride as opposed to other forums I have been around.

Not to offend anyone but if I was to become a member of a forum it would be to interact with other members and perhaps have my curiosities answered. You don't need to sign up to lurk and you have access to pretty much the whole site other than a few choice sections. Signing up doesn't make you an active member interacting does.

I'm not saying lurking is a bad thing a lot of members here initially lurk for a short while and then decide to introduce themselves.
