I ordered the Chelsea III on the 12th of June and was delivered a humidor with cracks that went all the way through the lid on the 22nd.

I called Tampa a soon as I saw the cracks and was told to take out all the stuff inside (analog hygrometer/dividers/tray etc. and ditch the broken humidor, and that on the 23rd they would ship out another humidor without the stuff inside.

I emailed them today to get a tracking number and I get this email:

"The manufacturer has issued a call tag to pick up the damaged humidor and replace it with a new one. If you could please put the damaged humidor in the original package and place it on your doorstep, UPS will come Friday 6/26 or Monday 6/29 to pick it up. As soon as they receive it, they will ship out the new one and I will have the new tracking number for you."

I kept the humidor but trashed the packaging.

Has anyone else had similar problems with Tampa Humidor?

Nothing but good experiences here with Tampa Humidor!! Mike was always quick with responses and very helpful. Have you contacted them regarding the fact you tossed the original packaging??

call them up and tell em the original packaging was thrashed, and ask for them to send you a box, or email you a label you can print and put on your own box...

A mountain out of a mole hill? When someone buys something it should be what you order. No one should have to go out of their way. JMHO.
Have you ever worked in retail? Obviously things happen that are completely out of your control. They are trying to make it right. Because HE decided to get rid of the original packaging HE needs to go get another box. To come on a forum with a thumbs down / Problems with Tampa Humidor thread is not the way to do it. If you owned a business and sold me something that was broken and you were PRESENTLY trying to rectify the situation would you want me to go online and try making your company look bad? Not trying to pick on anyone just stating my opinion.

And politicians should have the people's best interests at hand and drivers would never have car accidents. But it happens. Count the thumbs up on Tampa Humidors against the thumbs down and ye'll see they aren't bad.

Now if you are told to ditch the humidor, why would you keep the packaging? My opinion is that he should be compensated for his efforts. Maybe a discount or a percentage off of next purchase. That is what a good retail business would do. Once again just the rants of a man who wants what he pays for, no excuses.

But he is not getting screwed, not loosing money AND will be getting exactly what he paid for. I am sure they are doing their best to resolve the situation. If there was NO contact made on TH's end and they were not trying to help the customer out and they were given a fair amount of time to do so, then I would out them publicly... I would give them a fair shot at fixing the problem before doing so..... Obviously the purchaser is entitled to what they paid for, he will receive it, I just think a little too big of a deal is being made about a box that TH assumed he still had. He said he received an email saying that, he didn't say he responded by telling them he didn't have it and they told him too bad or something like that. I see it in poor form to do what the OP did. I may be wrong and the only person that thinks this way.

I fall on the other side of this. If I understand it correctly they instructed you to discard the damaged stuff. Then days later after you called them They wanted it back for the maker? In legit business that means they eat the cost of that. They told you what you do. They had a change, they deal with it.
It would be dif if they told you from the start to ship it back.

Some of the points being raised are totally overlooking the real problem here. It has nothing to do with the packaging box.

If he was told over the phone to trash the humidor and they would send him a new one the next day - that should be honored. To have mfromwhere need to wait and email them for an update, then have them turn around and tell him something completely different is terrible.

Good luck and keep us updated!

I'm just lucky I kept the humidor.

I just asked them to express the humidor back to me, which makes sense because I ordered it on the 12th and now it's the 26th and I probably have no less then a week until they receive the initial humidor back.

All I can say is that I have had many good experiences dealing with Tampa Humidors over the last couple of years.

A little update...

As of this morning they still haven't shipped the humidor despite numerous calls.
Every time I talked to someone they assured me it was en route and that they would email me tracking information but no one ever shipped it.

I finally talked to one of the owners and the best they could do was UPS 3 day.
Since it's a holiday weekend the soonest I'll get it is Wednesday... Just short of a month after I placed the order.

I do not blame you for the thumbs down on that outfit one bit. They will not get any of my business. I know that will not break them but I wont have to put up with excuses. Caveat emptor.
