I find that I am doing the nose hit thing or retrohaling with each toke. How often do u retrohale while smoking. I seem to enjoy the stick with the pepper up the nose. Do u guys do that often?
I exhale a little through my nose almost every puff. Been smokin cigars for the best part of 45 years and I have no idea WTF retrohaling is.:dunno:
It's what I do.I nosehale about 40% of the time while I smoke. The first 2/3 of a cigar is much easier. As you get into the last third it tends to get a bit more harsh.
That's what smart people from San Diego do,,,lolIt's what I do.
Retro haling should be done after you have expelled about 80% of the smoke out of your mouth first and then the rest thru your nose so you don't burn the hairs out of your nose after awhile. It is possible to retrohale ( snorking) on almost every puff if you do it right,,,I only do it half the cigar just to keep the sense of the tobacco where I like it,,in my mouth and in my olfactory senses. Some sticks have made me tear up a bit from the retrohale (not necessarily a bad thing) and like alot of other brothers have mentioned, towards the end of the stick it can be sort of harsh.
For those of you fellas that are retrohaling on every puff... you must have noses of STEEL!! I guess I'll get there eventually
Good tips. Thanks bro.Retro haling should be done after you have expelled about 80% of the smoke out of your mouth first and then the rest thru your nose so you don't burn the hairs out of your nose after awhile. Tip: if you retrohale with a cigar that has a Cameroon wrapper or binder (as in the RP Summer Collection 2009, which I found rather strange, never saw a Cameroon binder before that cigar, I had presumed they were too delicate), you will get an intense rush to the back of the head and your sinuses will clear. The feeling is very similar to eating horseradish or wasabi for our sushi-inclined friends. Very fun to do.
In case anyone is interested, here's a buddy of mine explaining it:

Suggest to not do it through the whole cigar after a thread started by our Doc. Let me find it and I'll add the link.the only way I smoke the whole cigar.
I agree, though with a strong cigar I find it hard to retrohale very often. I was at the Cain release event last night and a lot of the guys were finding it harder to nose those things. This is really the only way you can get the full flavors out of the smoke.:ccool:
