Hope ye don't mind if I suggest the idea in "The Cigar Box". I 4th the idea.
So let me understand this. We have a trader rating system. It is set up to allow positive and negative ratings. If you click on the trader rating it shows these amounts in numbers and percentages, (the negatives being in red btw). But this is TOO hard? It is too hard to click on the little number below the avatar to show the ratings. Of course if no one gives a negative rating, this really wont matter or help.

it's not about being HARD. it's about making it more public, and perhaps, being more of a deterrent to bad behavior.
plus, when there is a problem, like dennis', that number would be displayed to the general board should that choose to post again. i don't know who it is now, and unless i pm dennis i won't know.
it takes a lot to get a negative rating, and if the person deserves it, imo, it should be made public.

You have been more than generous in waiting this long and being cordial. You sent him a check so you obviously have his name and address. If you don't have his phone number, look it up online with any white pages. Call him and have a cordial conversation saying you simply want your money back or have 1 week to receive the cigars you agreed upon. If he doesn't answer, you keep calling back and leaving messages.
Hopefully this is a BOTL that is busy beyond belief and/or just lazy about getting cigars out and needs a good kick in the ass to get motivated. If you can't find his phone number, google and do other methods to find it.

The problem, (and some other day we can start a debate on whether or not capital punishment deters crime, a subject I wrote my thesis on) is that people that want to cheat, troll for freebees etc, fly under the radar until caught then leave. It will not stop the practice. So someone stiffs a guy on our board. First we have to get that person to post a neg trader rating. There seems to be a major problem in doing that. We dont want to be the bad guy. Maybe it was an error. Maybe he has problems. Whatever. If a neg is not posted, your red light wont go on. Now if we find a true troll or cheat, they dont last long, get banned and poof gone. Do you really wnat a bunch of banned guys with red lights under their avatars on the threads. Why? Is it like Ron says...a public flogging or hanging? Is that BOTL?
I hope not. Lets find em, cut em out and be done with it.

Maybe a time limit should be set on all trades?(Sticky somewhere) If a prob occurs were a gent has a actual emergency it can be changed after said prob is found even if a neg trader rating was left. I've had things late and been a few days late (few). But if someone takes a month I can tell you there getting a Neg rating.
I always think of that when people own me money. My friend owes me 32 dollars scince spring. Notmuch of a friend though. Dam pot heads.
Sorry you have to go through this. When I first came here I was skeptical about whether or not I could trust people. And i realized how safe and convenient it can be but there are some bad apples I guess.

This is one of a small percentage of all the boards out there that have about a 99% positive trade ratio. It does suck when trades go bad, but it does happen.
I don't think that there needs to be any changes to how we do things here to account for the one bad trade that does happen but we should probably do something else instead of trying to change the site or it's policies.
Chuck has pointed out that the trader ratings does have a spot for the negatives but I don't really recall seeing more than 1 or 2 negatives ever posted.
Post you negatives if you've had a bad trade.
I'm sure that collectively we can pool together enough cigars to balance out what you got stiffed on but please don't ask for changes to be made to the site. If you do, and it's granted, BoTL will not be the same place you came to and liked enough to stay.
I do agree with RonC - Public Lynchings are fun and do have a practical application. It gets the fire lit under someones lazy arse and gets the box in the mail. We are all grown ups here and can take a little heat when it's due.

You have to post negative feedback. Yes it is a serious action but you have been more than understanding and patient. It is people like yourself, who conduct themselves in an honorable way that make this board a special place. As CWS stated posting negative feedback is the first step in expelling those who do not conduct themselves with integrity and honor. so i say PRESS THE BUTTON
Dennis, I feel your pain am in a similar situation though after months of trying I got a couple of PMs from him saying that he would make it right and as luck would have it I haven't heard from him since. On the positive side brothers on here have been more than helpful to try and solve the issue. I hope you get your money back.

Thanks daniyal. u r right the guys on this site have been very supportive. I think its time for me to take a stance against this stuff.
