Not sure why I've not smoked them before but the last month or so I've been smoking a lot of lanceros. I find that I like them alot. Why does it seem like lanceros don't get alot of love from many cigar smokers?

IMHO, it allows for the pure blend and flavor to come out. You can't hide the taste like you can in a larger ring gauge cigar. That's why I also enjoy Petite Coronas and Corona Gordas.

cause they are bad at smoking. if you smoke a lancero too fast. it can be very very bitter.

lanceros require control and patience. but if you smoke them right, they are the best size in the world, imho.

Bill and Nic pretty much hit it on the head when it comes to smoking a lancero.

If you haven't tried it yet you gotta try the Viaje Platino Lancero, damn good smoke in my opinion!

Just had a DPG blue lancero a few weeks ago and must say it was the best blue label I have ever had. Great smoke.

I totally agree! I think that's one of the main reasons some people don't like the smaller sizes.

Another issue that some guys have with lanceros is that the sticks look "girlie"--like the old movies with ladies smoking a cigarette through one of those long sticks.

I was at a herf recently and was smoking a Tat Victorias, and one guy commenting about my need to try a "man's cigar." Other guys laughed. I said, "So you are more "manly" because you have a giant, thick, black stick in your mouth?"

AJ just sent me my first Viaje--I'm looking forward to trying it! If I enjoy it I"ll definately try the lancero.

I love lanceros! But the other factor in many people disliking them is that they are difficult to roll, only the best can roll them, and when the best don't roll them, they end up with either a tight draw or tunneling & burn issues.

I just spit coffee all over my keyboard and monitor! That was hilarious!

There's always guys like that with the bigger ring gauges. There's a customer at the B&M that only smokes the Serie V figurado or torpedo. When the store sold out of the others, we tried to get him to try the V lancero, but he said he didn't want a "girly" cigar.

When I started smoking cigars I didn't want to smoke lanceros because I thought that they looked girlie. Now, I could care less about the opinion of others... I just want to smoke a fine cigar! I've found myself ordering cigars down in the low 40s and will probably continue.

A lot of my friends smoke Robustos, Toros & Torpedo/Belicoso sized cigars and general think the bigger the better, they also think that the darker the wrapper the fuller the cigar will be. I think this is a common thought with cigar smokers I have encountered locally and likely not so much here at botl.org, as this crowd is more informed and more willing to try different cigars. Personally I like the Lanceros, if DPG rolled it then even moreso!

Lonsdale & Lanceros are one of my favorite sticks you just have to take your time with them like a good woman.

Funny I have more construction issues with lonsdales then other sticks by far. Especially anything from Partagas. Kiss of death for me. On a side note I love how LGC constitantly puts out great drawing sticks and others can plug a robusto.

as to what others said I agree. You get the true tast of the cigar in the lancero. The wrapper is more prevelant as others have commented you cant hide the taste with the rest of the cigar.

ALthough I am smoking a Tat El Cohete(sp) I got as a gift and DAMN!! Not quite the POW of the T110, but is gooood

I find myself trending towards smaller ring gauges now... the max i'll typically go for anymore is a 52, with a a preference to 46.
