Hello again brothers and sisters of the leaf!
Don't get TOO excited, just another review!
Yesterday afternoon I smoked the Alec Bradley Select Cabinet Reserve robusto. This was a gift from a very generous brother, cc jefe! This stick is a perfect 50 RG by 5''. My personal favorite size cigar. They run for about $6.25 I believe.
It was a very very very cold day up on the UAlbany Campus!!
This cigar had a beautiful brown wrapper, with no significant veins. It was a bit toothy to the feel, and very firm to the touch.
Pre-light draw was tight, and had a mixture of fruit and heavy tobacco. A very appealing stick overall so far, with a beautiful, elaborate band.
This stick lit up quite well, but was low on smoke due to the tightness of the draw. It definitely got better as the cigar burned on and softened up a bit.
Right off the torch I taste notes of sweet coffee and wood. Nuttiness emerges within the first half in or so to accompany the coffee and wood. Spice is extremely delicious through the nose.
The burn was a little choppy in the beginning, but evened out and gave me no trouble for the rest of the smoke.
I accidentally knocked the ash off while I was zippering my jacket, but the ash was a nice, light gray color and held pretty well.
The start of the second third brings on a bit of a change. The spice starts to come through with previous levels of woodiness increasing. Farther along the second third, I taste hints of cream on the end of my pallet. By the last bits of the second third, the spice is almost completely subdued.
Is this quadruple capped? (not experienced enough, so I don't even know if it exists!)
It's such a beautiful day, but so cold I need gloves!!
The final third brought on a bit of nuttiness that reminded me of fall. The first signs of earthiness during the last third mixed with a subtle cream made for quite a tasty finish!
Ample amounts of smoke at the end, and a nice variety of flavors made this a very very delicious smoke! Thank you cc jefe!!
And I finally lay the cigar to rest. I was getting so cold, I could barely hold it between my frozen fingers!! The gloves weren't doing much for me...they were pretty thin.
This was a very nice smoke, perfect for a cold fall day!
I would give this stick an 87/100. Very enjoyable, and at this price point, might buy a fiver at some point.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you guys enjoyed!!
