I have recently found some Cuban's, which I know nothing about, and wanted to know more about the bands. I have Montecristo that is a dull brownish color but it is like paper. There is no gloss on the band. The other is the Cohiba and that has the Cohiba in blue lettering not the gold. When did Monte and cohiba change bands? Around how old would these sticks be? If you need pics I will post them
Thank you in advance.

The pic was from CA with this description
Cohiba - Cuba

The Genuine Article -- Old Style (for reference)

Cohiba is the most commonly counterfeited Cuban cigar. The white markings are tiny squares, not circles. There should be four rows of squares, with just two above the word "Cohiba." The "La Habana, Cuba" script is grand and elongated. The Cubans added the script in the early '90s.

The top being cut off the way it is looks a bit suspect, but I've only seen a few.
They vary with every run of th ebands. Sometimes they were cut, sometimes there was a space above. Bands used to be very irregular in Cuba.

The timeframe of 2002-2004 was about par for the course for Monte & Cohiba band changes. Earlier for Cohiba (november 2002), later for Monte (Mid 03). With examples of both bands coming out well into 2004.
