Ok, I must confess. Thanks to shuckins I smoked my first Tat today. That's not really what I'm confessing though. It was a 7" churchill beauty. I stood there at the humidor, cutter in one hand and cigar in the other thinking bad thoughts. I really wanted to smoke it but I was tired, couldn't commit to a couple of hours. So...

I did the unthinkable, I cut it in half.

That's right, I cut it and smoked half. To add insult to injury the wrapper on the foot side of the cut unraveled a bit and I used a bit of scotch tape to repair it, after all that was the end I was gonna not burn. Then I put the other back in the humidor.

And you know what? It smoked just fine, I really enjoyed it.

I've done it from time to time. You should use pectin that you can get at any grocery store in the canning section. Its a natural glue used in the food industry.

I'll probably need to start doing that with most of the churchills I have sitting around here. I need to pick up some pectin too.

I almost just pi$$ed my pants laughing. How un-holy! (j/k)

Be VERY careful... Once you get bit by the drug of Tatuaje cigars, there ain't no goin back!

 If it smoked nice who cares though right? I found myself not being able to finish the Churchill sized sticks when I started too. I stuck with the smaller stuff for a while.

Whats your addy I can stock you up on some smaller sticks
lol, I'm not falling for that one. I've seen what you do to people's mail boxes. :bangbang:

I've got a decent supply of shorter smokes: short stories, WOAMs (not that short a smoke actually), cao criollo pampas (gonna try the brazil next), oliva special Gs, and La Riqueza #5. Sounds like i'll have to pick up some noellas too as I did like the tat.

I felt vaguely guilty the whole time, but honestly, I doubt I would be having the opportunity to smoke a chuchill anytime soon and I was curious and impatient. :D Now I know what people are talking about when they claim Pete sprinkles cayenne pepper on his tobacco when it's growing, wow.

I also have to admit, I have been a bit broke after the baby boy I was recently blessed with a little over a month ago so I have cut a couple premium stogies in half as I knew it would be a while before I could buy some expensive ones again (damn diapers are expensive!!). I did not, however use scotch tape  I merely fought the wrapper and kept holding it so it wouldn't unwrap.

This is the first time I have admitted it in public haha. I did wonder if doing this changes the development of flavors in any way but I did not want to ask and out myself as a "closet cutter" :rolling:

I'm real curious about the flavor development question, myself. Is the progression of flavors dependent on a different composition of tobacco along the stick, or is it more of an issue of sustained combustion, temperature and exposure of the palate to smoke?
