Mine was a Cohiba Robusto while on vacation in Vancouver BC. I drove out to Seattle to visit this girl I met while on vacation in Hawaii. I went to hang out with her for 2 weeks, we went to Vancouver with a couple friends for the weekend and I had to buy this cigar I heard so much about as I've never really smoked a real cigar. I smoked it while in good company and it kicked my ass... loved cigars ever since even though it took me 10 years to become a regular with cigars.

Plus I found my wife so everything worked out great...
Very cool. :glassesgr

Originally I would grab a Macanudo Hampton court from the grocery store when we were going out.....Then I took a break and would grab a smoke occasionaly..ussually a Macanudo diplomat. I was just smoking because it looked cool, and not really appreciateing the cigar for it's subtlties. I began my obsession with an Oliva serie G Robusto. At the time the cheapest cigar in our B&M's Humi. I have slid a long way down that slope since then.

Padron 1964 Anniversario - got turned on to these by a shop in Houston (Briar Shoppe, West Village/Rice area from what I recall) in '96 or so. I'd only smoke a cigar a few times a year. If I couldn't find an Anniverario at my local shop I'd just walk out, I wouldn't smoke...LOL...I guess that shop knew this and they'd raid a member's secret stash if they had too, just to make a sale, either that or they had the box well hid. Eventually I branched out (it's FrankN's fault!!!) to other smokes.

For me it was in the early 90s. I was in Tampa and Ybor City quite a bit. There is a little shop that does their own cigars there called El Sol Cigars. I haven't had one of those in over 10 years but they got me started. I bought my first humi there that I still use today as well.

I love these smokes, but I'm glad I didn't start there, cause nothing else would have lived up to it.

Avo #2, Padron 3000 Maduro, or AF 858...can't remember which was first, but they were all there in the beginning. Can't remember the last time I purchased any of those, but I would happily smoke any one of them to this day!

Started with Drug store cigars in the early 90's.Then later in the 90's a old guy in work gave me a box of Te-Amo Cigars that lead to Don Tomas Cigars and then on to Hoya De Monterrey Excalibur.Would have to say it was the Excalibur that made me into a every day cigar smoker.

Hands down the smoke that got me hooked and chaned my life was the Padron Anniversary 1964 Diplomatico Natural. Still one of my favorites and changed me from a couple of times a year smoker to a couple of times a week smoker.

I bought a fiver while on a trip to Varadero in 2005 and that's what got me started on cigars.

When I was 39 years old I moved to Texas from California. I was "anti-smoking" before that.....all my friends in Texas seemed to smoke cigars and so one day to be one of the boys I joined them. My friend Mike handed me a nicely aged opus x. Walking along the riverwalk in
San Antonio on a nice warm spring day I -with assistance- lit up the opus and took my first puff........and wondered how I managed to live 40 years without finding this most sublime of life's pleasures.......I still look back on that day and am grateful to my friend Mike for his wisdom in selecting just the right cigar to ensure a new cigar smoker was born...
