Well my work is ending employee phones as a measure to cut costs so I will have to go out and get my own phone now. I am going to go through sprint as I get a nice discount through work. I am mostly looking at the HTC Hero, Blackberry Curve, or Palm Pre. What do you guys think? Have you used any of these or have a better suggestion?

I like Palm so I would go with the Palm Pre. You really can't go wrong with any of those though.

blackberry curve is nice in that there is an antenna booster available but I am waiting for the BB Tour 2 to come out. Seems it will offer all of the features I will need but it may take too long to come out for you.

Get a phone with the Android platform which is the HTC Hero in your case. Definitely do not get a Blackberry. The only people that should have those are people who's businesses give them it. I would go with a HTC. Check out if any new ones are coming out before you buy one. I have the Droid that runs Android 2.0 and it is amazing, smokes the iPhone. Most phones on sprint I still think run Android 1.5 or 1.6 but this will be updated, but if it is possible to wait for them to get a Android 2.0 or 2.1 phone I would wait. It would be well worth it. It is the platform of the future so if you plan on having the phone for a while definitely wait and get Android 2.0.

Just read the HTC Hero will get the Android 2.1 update in the first half of 2010 so yeah, that would be the best phone to get in that bunch without question. The second would be the Pre but I would get a HTC with 2.1 over that hands down.

It also seems to be rumored that an LG Android phone may be coming to Sprint if you prefer LG. I would still stick with HTC.

Love the Android based phones. I would go with a Hero. HTC did a pretty good job with that phone.

I have a Blackberry curve, and I cannot recommend it. I have problems every day with it not allowing me into the messaging section, or email, or whatever it feels like not allowing me to do on that particular day. The advantage to the Curve is that it has a great battery life, I can often go two days without a charge with light to moderate use.

I just upgraded last week from a BB Curve to the BB Bold 9700. I never had a problem with my Curve, I just wanted the ability to receive texts and emails while I am on the phone, which couldn't be done with the Curve. So far the Bold 9700 has been flawless and I am more than happy with it so far.

I love my iphone 3Gs
iphone was my first choice, but I can pay 60% less a month for more stuff with Sprint. I am really leaning towards the HTC Hero, but typing on it seems annoying, I guess I would need to get used to it. I would like to check out the Droid but unfortunately I havnt seen it around yet.

I've got a Nokia E71 that is great. Nice keyboard, and pretty good web browsing with the new Opera Mobile 10 browser. If it wasn't so expensive, I'd get a Nokia N900. I've got an older N810 (internet tablet only, no phone or 3G), and the N900 is smaller and more versatile.

I'm really curious about the upcoming Google-branded phone.

Droid is only on Verizon. Droid and the Hero run the same Android platform. HTC has a Sense UI (i believe) in which one added feature is that there are seven screens to pan between. The difference is hardware and aesthetics. iPhones are old now. Its screens are just shortcuts for apps, which you will have a drawer for on your Hero. You can use your main screens to runs widgets which can stream live stock quotes, news, scores, and run clock, weather, and scheduling widgets. It also scrolls your texts at the top of the screen. I could go on and on, but basically you want the HTC if you want to stay as current as possible and be with where the future is heading with cellular technology.

I know Droid has voice turn by turn GPS but I am not sure if the Hero does. I know that is one reason I got the phone because I always wanted GPS but didn't want to shell out $100 for one. I mean if the Hero has that or can get it in a future update then that may make your choice even easier, though obviously from my standpoint there is really no question of which phone you should get.

Just jumped over to cnet and seems the reviews of the phone over there are extremely positive. Okay, I will shut up for now.
