So we got some bad news yesterday, and more today.

It seems that the Air Force in their infinite wisdom have decided that Ohio is a bad place for my wife to serve her tour after all, and instead we should move to Japan.

What's more, instead of the 2 years she'll still owe as of summer, they're forcing her to go 3 years. So one extra year of our lives (and away from my career) and a total of 40 months in Japan.

Can't say I'm looking forward to moving accross the world with an 8-week-old baby (they'd send us sooner if they could) and of course our toddler. And the grandparents will be heartbroken as they could never afford to come visit. We might make it back once a year, but it's very expensive. And of course we'll loose a butt load on our house--if it sells--not to mention the car we JUST bought 2 weeks ago thinking we'd drive it for 10+ years.

So yea. I'm keeping it together for my wife and I'm trying to have a positive outlook, but I needed to vent to somebody--thanks for that, gang :). I know God will take care of us and everything will be fine, but it still sucks balls.

Sorry to hear that Nate....I will keep ya in my prayers..

On a good note, no Afganastan and you have good access to cubans right...

Anything I can do to help let me know....If it comes to it, I'll help ya pack, move, babysit, what ever...I am close enough to ya and would be happy to help...

Oh jeez nj...that's rough. I'm sorry.

FWIW, my wife's been to Japan and keeps telling me she is dying to go back there.

Keep your chin up.

My heart goes out to you and your family, as do my prayers.
It is hard to understand why things happen as they do sometimes, but you are right...God will take care of you and everything will be fine.
Keep the faith, brother.

Man, hang in there buddy. I will say some prayers for your family.

When are you leaving, we need to smoke again soon.

Damn, Japan... That's a long way and it sucks too but see it as a new culture income. My dad loved Japan when he went. Said that they are very clean, respectful and very disciplined people. And the scenery is beautiful.... Just giving ya some hope.

That is a real shame. I'm sorry you have to relocate so far away after getting settled. If there is a brightside to all this, and I know it isn't important, but you will have access to all the CC's you want. I believe everything happens for a reason, and in time you will find out what the reason is behind this move. I wish you the best of luck Nate, and I hope this all works out for you and your family.

My cousin was stationed in Japan in the Navy for a number of years and he said it was great. Definitely a big change, but hopefully you'll end up enjoying it. Be safe man and suck in the experience. Even though its kinda scary, you get to do something a lot of people will never have a chance to do and you will look back and appreciate it. Guaranteed.

Nate I think the worst part of military life is the constant relocating. It downright sucks. I would rather shut my hang low in a car door than pack up my family to move again. Moving is such a pain in the arse! Hope that once you do get moved that you get to enjoy the new temp home! Also make sure you hook us up with the new addy so some international bombs can fly!

I spent a year there in the Marine Corps. I can relate to your dilema of time away from family and friends, but I can also encourage you to embrace the experience. There are things I got to experience that I will most likely never have the opportunity again. Itruely enjoyed the people and the country.

And with with some new options suddenly at your disposal, allow me to make sure you've got mine! :bouncetau

In all seriousness though...it sounds like a pain bro, sorry to hear that. Like many have already said though, look for the silver lining...there will likely be many.

And seriously...make sure I have that new addy. :riflefire

Very sorry to hear. I know you will be strong for the family, and I know you will make the best out of it. But, I'm sorry to hear your being dragged in a direction you don't want to go in. Seems like America is doing a poorer and poorer job of taking care of the soldiers that take care of us.

Thanks for the kind word, guys. I'm sure we will try to make the most o the experience, but for now we're still in shock and overwealmed by all the work ahead.

As far as CCs, the place we're going is more or less the middle of nowhere, there is not much of a town to speak of nearby, so I doubt there is a cigar shop.
