You could roll a padron anniversary in the dumpster behind a planned parenthood and I'd still take it over most any CC. There are CC's I've enjoyed, even sought out, but the disappointment in quality control keeps my finger off the trigger most of the time. The last two boxes I purchased were studio smokes, a box of Diplimaticos #5 and San Cristobal prinicpe, cheaper end stuff, and half of both boxes burned like sh*t, or were plugged. The dependable CC's can be counted on one hand, and that's not a quality I care for. The blending Pepin has been doing lately, his own and contract work, has kept me pretty occupied and on the off chance I slip a CC in my rotation, half way though I wish I held on to it to toss to some novice smoker in hopes that he'll buy my next drink.

When a friend says "give me something like a cuban" I reply "only if when we get to the bar you buy me something like a red wine"

Wow. Strong opinions. I was a CC snob and found that I was missing something. In my opinion, there are some excellent NC cigars today on the market. That being said, if I want a consistantly good cigar, an aged Bolivar, H. Upman or the right Cohiba always fit the bill.

I am a Habanos addict. If you are looking for a go to cigar go for either:

1- Ramon Allones specially selected
2- Montecristo Petite Edmundo.

Both these cigars are great and benefit from good pricing ($8-$10)

I've heard nothing but good about the RASS. Looking forward to trying one. Just had my first RASCC this weekend and what an interesting feller that was. That's the first time I picked up Jasmine in a cigar and was caught off guard by it.

Haven't tried the Petit Edmundo either but I will. Thanks for the recommendations!

can't beat a padron 64, 40th anni,,, love the ashton vsg's, stanford 90th,,, can't get enough of the opus, hemingway, don carlos.... now, i would take a sig VI, monte 2, hdm corona, and some recent RE's and LE's any day!!

and if you really want to get outrageous, dabble in the monte dunhills....

there are some great cigars out there!!

Opinions are like #^*€> well you know what I mean. To me, there is no tobacco on earth like that from Cuba, and I have yet to find a NC I would even think of buying a box of. Even Tatuajes. I have wasted a lot of money on NC's I end up giving away. My personal opinion, (and I think I know about some of the CCs you have recently tried), is that your tastes are very refined and you are not mistaken!!
Glad I am not the only one. . .:rolling:

Hmmm........i think that when the CC are good they are the BEST and you dont have to sit on them for more than maybe 2 -3 years for them to become amazing.
The NC are also good but the genereal NC in my opinion can never come near the generel CC.
I mean it is like with champagne, sure there is good sparkling wine but then there is champagne. When you get your hands on an aged CC there is no beating it so my friend if i may sa so.....the answer is buying and letting the CC go to sleep for a couple of years. Try to get hold on some Partagas Serie D No 1 LTD from 2004 and you will fall in love!
