So I lite it up....I get a really sweet slight bitterness taste, little chocolate, and a char kinda flavor. The stick burns evern but doesn't change up a bit in the flavor department...very bland. The smoke it would appear looking at this stick would be heavy but it isn't...this would appear to be a heavier smoke but it is more on the medium side. I found it disappointing especially for a $10 stick. Maybe it's this particular size...not sure...but I won't be buying another to find out.

E-man67,

Fwiw, LP #9s are very rarely tight, but it does regretfully happen in any handmade product and imo, if it is you such just pitch it. Without the proper draw, the combustion rate is all wrong and the cigar will not taste right.

I would greatly appreciate it if you emailed me your snail mail so I can get you a replacement smoke or two. You may still not like the cigar and if you post so, no problem, not every cigar is for everyone, but nobody should pay $11 for a tight cigar so we owe you.

Much thanks,

Steve Saka

UPDATE:

So back in September I posted a review of the Liga Privada #9 entitled "Liga Privada #9...not worth the cake"...So I forget about it and brother Nate tells me to get back in the thread that the President of Drew Estates himself joined BOTL to address my bad stick issue. I e-mailed and Pm'd him and never heard anything back until about a week ago (I imagine he is busy as he has a very large company to run). He e-mails me asking is I got my replacement for the #9...I say no...he then proceeds to mail me priority mail my replacement (among other things)...I will not divulge just what he sent me but let's just say he was VERY generous. I think regardless of what he sent this speaks volumes for his company that the consumer really does matter...this guy took time out of his day to address my one small stick issue..and not just any guy but the president himself! Drew Estates is a company that listens. Thanks so much Mr. Saka!

That was very nice. I was lucky enough to meet him at a b&m in Germantown, WI last September for the release of the T52's. He was very generous when I met him as well. I was lucky enough to smoke a T52 Toro and talk to him for a couple hours. He is very passionate and knowledgable about cigars and I learned quite a bit about the process of cigar making as a whole.

I've been lucky enough that I've never had any major issues with any of the LP's that I've smoked so far and I've smoked quite a few. The only minor annoyance is that when taking off the band some of the wrapper leaf comes off where the pectin was applied...I can live with this.

Well done and classy move...Love the Liga Line myself and, having met him, I am not surprised by this action by Mr Saka. Hope you enjoy the compensation package!!

Very nice to read this story. I'm starting to really like the Liga Privada line. I just had my first No. 9 yesterday in the form of the Flying Pig and really enjoyed it. It was a little strong for me but the flavors, burn, and construction were amazing. I can't wait to try others in the line. I only wish they'd release a vitola in a smaller ring gauge.

I'd also love to see an LP#9 in a corona or (better yet) lancero size. But I'll bet it's tough and expensive to do a 7-leaf blend (or whatever these are) in a ring that small. I'd sure love to taste that much wrapper, though :inlove:

I haven't had one of these in a while, I might just have to turn on the heater and smoke in the garage today ... even though I'll have to face the wife's wrath, lol.

It's great to see a company with a quality product that understands customer service. In my book a good product with a good company behind it is always worth paying a little more for.

It seems like too many companies rely on consumers that either simply want the product as cheap as possible, or just blindly assume expensive == good.

Gotta love some good customer service! Hard to find today. I have tried a few of the lp9 and t52s and love both blends. Glad to see some quality cigars coming out of drew estate.

Well since he is listening, we need to get a lancero of this blend on the shelves. I would be all over that.
