I picked up a small notebook that I have never used for my cigar reviews. Every time I smoke a cigar I write down date, the place, weather, if I have drink to pair it or even food, start time and end time, and obviously a review on the cigar as I smoke it and it's size and ring gouge, even write down my thoughts in that very moment.

Do you guys do the same? I just like to keep track right now of the cigars I like and dislike and maybe even see an evolution of my palate as I do 'em.

I tried, but I'm just too damn lazy to sit down and write in there what all I thought of a particular cigar. So now I just put a date on the back of the label and maybe a smiley or frown face and chuck it in a cigar box with my lighter and cutter. I have a pretty good memory so I can usually remember what I liked or didn't like about a particular cigar and if I forget...well I have an excuse to revisit it now don't I :headroll:.

Definately a good idea Megan, I had one waaaaaaaay back when I started and ended up smoking so many I couldn't keep track. Now it's all mental notes to myself.

I was keeping notes on an iPhone app. Couldn't stand tapping at the screen so I bought a small leather bound diary. I glue the label in then record the date and whatever specifics I can recall about the cigar. Then I just write anecdotal notes about the experience at the time. Once I started writing as opposed to typing, my cigar diary became more than a database (which reflects the software author's viewpoint.) I was able to write down what was important to me - the experience of smoking the cigar. I write things about what the cigar felt like in my hand and in my mouth, the burn, my impression of the strength and flavour profile. Each note is different and not formulaic.

I keep a smoking log on a tab in my humidor inventory spreadsheet. I don't always write much, if anything, but I keep track of everything I smoke.

Yes... "moleskin" slipping into his "pocket"... you really gotta keep an eye on these brothers like Angry Bill... he is from southern California, and all. Very suspicious fellow...

I also have a spreadsheet to keep track of what I have in my humidors. I have a column for notes, in which I talk about what I drank with it, etc. And take notes on all of them that I have smoked.

I've tried but i mostly smoke cigars in situations that don't lend itself to taking notes Party, golfing, yard work. I just try to keep mental notes and set up/fill my humidor accordingly
