So if I want certain boxes of brown label that is still made, el tri, etc from my local that they don't have in stock, all I have to do is give them my money, tell them to pre-pay when ordering and they will get it? My understanding is it doesn't happen this way currently. They will place an order for product and hope they get what they ordered, but in most cases with Tatuaje and Illusione (same rep) they get what is shipped to them. Now I don't know if they are pre-paying when ordering or not. What is standard procedure when a shop orders? To guarantee product, Yes.
I guess if you are only looking to get online customers that is great for Pete and Dan. Too bad the name Tatuaje is getting to be synonymous with supply issues. I am done ordering Tatuaje products online, I try and support my local stores, but if Pete can't even get them the product then why continue buying it? Venting on Pete, but it's similar with other brands, Tatuaje is just at the front of it lately. First thing that comes to mind with the name Tatuaje is great stick usually, second thing is great I am going to have to call 20 places to try and find it. Not anymore, except for previously released stuff that I know is great that isn't carried in stores anymore. Have to put my disclaimer in there since I will buy certain sticks online.I hear what you're saying Vegan, but my closest B&M in the Seattle area never knows what he's getting either. He always tells me he ordered "x" amount of boxes, but never knows what he will actually get until the shipment comes in. I'm assuming this is the norm vs the exception for most companies. Look at Opus and Anejo... who the hell knows how many boxes the B&M's will get???
I'm sure it's standard practice that the retailers that prove they sell the most, get a little better priority in limited releases and product with limited quantities. I think it's totally fair for a company to give a slight preference to a retailer that proves day in and day out that they sell more product on a daily basis. When it comes to limited cigars, those top selling retailers will get a slight advantage over the retailers that don't sell as much. Viaje has "premium" accounts... I believe that's what they are called where those retailers get more of the limited cigars to sell.
Dan at New Havana Cigars makes Tatuaje a priority in his business and in turn, I'm sure Pete makes New Havana a priority. It only makes sense to me. Just my opinion... :dunno:
Vegan702, That one store in Vegas will be getting their whole order.......Only 1 store in Vegas carries everything Pete makes, with exception to the new el tri. It is what it is.
Very Rare. This is why they will be getting their order and this is why the other stores in the country that do will also get their orders.I think its pretty rare for a shop to carry EVERYTHING that any cigar brand puts out. That's alot of fronts.
Very true, but Anejo and Opus pop up in my local from time to time, I never see the limited release stuff there(from several of the "boutique" brands) and they have 5 stores and a warehouse and are Tatuaje dealers.. guess not "special" enough. I won't chase these cigars, if they show up on the shelf I may consider buying. Too many great cigars in my local to worry about bullshit distributors who limit quantities and play favorites! The Anejo and Opus is an excellent example. The store I run does well with the entire Feunte line and we carry almost everything they make, not just their special stuff. So when we get in Anejo and Opus they always seem to send us a good stock pile. However, our last Opus order was tiny. But if thats all they have to send then thats all we get. If they started to make a zillion of them just "to be fair" so everyone can get a peice of the pie then they sacrifice quality. It's a simple enough concept so I understand what Pete is saying. If they support the entire brand, not just want the limited edition stuff then they should get a little more love right?
Exactly, so why complain when those stores don't get the harder to find or limited stuff? Pete said the one shop that does support him, he's supporting back.Only 1 store in Vegas carries everything Pete makes, with exception to the new el tri. It is what it is.
Name me one that doesn't play favorites.Very true, but Anejo and Opus pop up in my local from time to time, I never see the limited release stuff there(from several of the "boutique" brands) and they have 5 stores and a warehouse and are Tatuaje dealers.. guess not "special" enough. I understand the favorites game... just saying if my local isn't a favorite I won't chase. Many people spend their hard earned money in there and if it isn't good enough for these small time players then fuggem! They will sell regardless, just not on my local's shelves. Not hating, just taking what's available!Name me one that doesn't play favorites.
