I understand the favorites game... just saying if my local isn't a favorite I won't chase. Many people spend their hard earned money in there and if it isn't good enough for these small time players then fuggem! They will sell regardless, just not on my local's shelves. Not hating, just taking what's available!

I had to jump back in and comment...These stores you are talking about are some of my favorite people in the business and they get whatever they order from me..... Of course they don't get the limited products I make custom for other retailers from time to time but they get everything else limited including La Verite.

Craig my company is a small time player. If you are referring to NHC as a big time player, I have to laugh....Dan is a baby in the business compared to your local which is a large time player in the industry. Dan just concentrates on very few brands so it's easy for him to be my #1 account.

I think if you asked the guys at your local, they would not look at me as a bullshit distributor as you called me....

Oh my Gawd.

I really can't believe some of these posts. I've noticed that a lot of my posts have been increasingly cynical on botl.org lately and I think I now know why. You guys have got to stop with the whole fanatical cult like following with Tatuaje. I know that most boards will cater to a favored brand (CF comes to mind but hey- look who runs it too.)

It's really cool to see support for the brand but it's just a small time chump like the rest of us running it. It's not General Cigar or Altadis chucking 15 million cigars at you, it's a small boutique brand like LfD or PDR.

Some of you really ought to be ashamed

was generalizing with the "bullshit distributor" comment... and no, I definitely didn't say or imply Dan was a big time player... great guy though.

Just burned out by the chase involved with some of the boutique brands in general, especially after having the feeling recently that it wasn't worth it. I do enjoy many in the Tatuaje lines and think it is great that the small batch releases can sell out in a matter of days, just gets frustrating for many who support the brand and have to jump through hoops in attempt to get them.

Craig,
I can't force retailers to buy from me. Many don't want to take a chance on a new product. A lot of times they only order because people start talking about it. With something like this cigar, I received too many orders and even a few of my favorite retailers didn't get an order in. I made it first come first serve. So, I'm not really playing favorites.
Sometimes I think it would be easier to sell this direct to the small group that follows the brand but obviously that's not fair to my retailers. So, I have to spread it out and sometimes the distribution gets thin.

BTW, retailers are hesitant to order these types of sticks due to the price tag they wear, and the fact that most people won't know what the hell they are, nor will they spend the $20 to try one.

You might feel like there are a ton of us BOTL'ers around knowing what's what in the market, but we make up a very small percentage of the cigar buying public, again whom will rather buy 5 $4 sticks, as opposed to one special release.

If you aren't seeing these in your B&Ms, I would talk to the shop about getting a box for you. If you only want a few sticks, don't expect your shop to take on the risk of buying a box for you to only buy 3 sticks.
