I bought a box of the coronas. I will try to smoke one tonight and post a review
Welp... I tried one last night...
Overall the constuction wasn't very good. Rough looking with a bit a spongyness. But as we all know that doesn't necessarily make for a bad cigar... just one that's not fun to look at.
Again this is a corona (6" x 44) that I'm smoking. I have really begun to appreciate the smaller ring guages so I was happy to see that they are offering this size. After cutting the pre-light draw maybe just a bit tight very not bad and had a nice 'maduro' flavor. The first third had a nice smooth 'maduro' flavor with just a touch of pepper in the background. I say 'maduro' flavor because I'm not that good at picking out all the different nuances. I would like to say that there was some leathery, choclaty component to it but I couldn't tell that for sure. Once I got into the 2nd third the peppery flavor got a bit stronger and this pretty much kept up til the end. The 'maduro' flavor was still there just not as pronounced as the 1st third... probably being a bit over shadowed by the pepper I was tasting.
The burn was about what I expected from the shoddy construction. It was a bit unneven at times but always seemed to straighten up by itself. The only time I had to put a flame to it to revive it was when I got to chatting with my neighbor and didn't pay enough attention to it. It lit right back up and burned pretty nicely after that. Smoke time was about 1 hour.
CI is selling a box of these for $52. To me these are well worth it. Yeah the construction wasn't the best but for less than $3 each they are very tasty.
