I started using a tupperdor at home (well, Mrs. Tiger did, im on the road). She got two jars of beads and some solution and did what the guy at the B&M told her to. It was dead on 70 degrees and 70% humidity for a while. I got home the other day and took out some cigars and put them in my travel humidor for the road. The next day, She told me that the humidity in the tupperdor was almost 90%. WTF???

did the fact that I took out about 1/3 of the cigars in the tupperdor cause the humidity to soar like that? Are my cigars ruined now? What do I do from here?

I'd suggest going to heartfeltindustries.com and checking out their 65% beads, they will take care of your humidity issues. As for now, give the tupperdor a day to see if it levels out. If it's still high, just let it air out for a while.

A quick note. When you get the beads, if the humidity in the tupperware is above 65%, don't bother wetting any of the beads, just put them in and let them get their moisture from what's in the container. Otherwise you'll be fighting humidity issues longer than necessary.

Excellent Tip.

DITTO times a thousand. I used other kinds of beads/gel in my tupperdors for a while, and had 2 outbreaks of mold (even when teh rH was reading right, which was rare). Since switching to Heartfelt beads about 18-months ago, I've not had a single problem. It's a bit more of an initial investment, but pays dividends in a relatively short time!

That one tube will be the answer you are seeking. Just sit back and watch the beads take care of the problem for 3-6 months at a time.

While I have the typical wood humidors ( 11 ) I keep about 4 tupperadors/rubbermaids as well. I've learned thru experience that 65% is probably the best beads to get to help stabilize that environment. Since tupperware does not "breathe" the inside environment is typically sealed or at the least like I do with a couple is burp one side and not seal it. If you have any cedar sheets available use them to line the bottom of the tupperware...that helps a lot. The tupperadors I have are about 8 inches deep so I keep old cigar boxes around and fill them up with the cigars and then seal the top. So far after a year or two they do not deviate more than a couple of degrees in RH. Also, ensure that you store the tupperadors in the shade as outside temperature or direct sunlight will cause things to spike both in temp and RH.

Whoa, hold on. Did you say two jars of beads and some solution? If you mean the PG solution that you use with floral foam, do not put that stuff in your beads! Use only distilled water in your beads.
