Braden,

My LP experience, in order, was as follows:

LP #9 Flying Pig
T52 Robusto x 2
Dirty Rat

The end result? Traded for sampler from BOTL, purchased box of Rats and reserved box of T52 Pigs.

Oh yeah, and "it" moved. :)

p.s. Tim is a SUPER guy, just SUPER. If he can hook you up, he will. Great guy, BOTL, and retailer.

I for one fail to see all the love for these cigars. Not to be the odd man out, don't get me wrong they ARE good cigars, but they are just too inconsistent for me, especially the T52's. I've had one good T52 out of the last five I've smoked and I tend to have a lot of burn issues w/ the T52's. The #9's for me seem to be a lot more consistent in flavor and overall quality. The T52's are amazing cigars when you get the right one. But, at this point of sick of smoking them to be let down 80% of the time.

So, I would have to say, go w/ the #9's.

Also, I've had MUCH better luck w/ the T52 Toro, the RoBo's just aren't doing it for me. I've liked 2 out of the 10ish total I've smoked. I've had to put at least 3-4 down early because of burn issues. The toro's I've smoked have all smoked, and tasted a lot better.

I like to check the sponsors of BOTL first. Of course the bottom line always helps, but The Burning Leaf offers a BOTL discount, and are good folks. Not that the other shops aren't good shops, but supportting our sponsors, supports the board.

i've smoked mostly rats, t52 beli and dc and can honestly say i've never had a single burn issue. it has been said that they can benefit from some dry time.

Start with a #9 Toro and a T-52 Toro (the #9 is called the Parejo I believe). Those sizes represent the blend very well, so I'd start there.

As far as Flying Pigs and Dirty Rats--they won't be as hard to find as you think, not in a couple weeks anyway. I'm sure there will be guys here selling and trading them. But the Dirty Rat will be around forever, so no hurry. And there's no sense trying an LE like the Flying Pig until you first know if you like the blend!

That sucks about your T-52 issues. All i can say is that they need some humidor/drying-out time when you first get them. Also, the T-52 is a blend best smoked SLOWLY. The flavors just don't seem to come through properly if it's smoked fast or even "normal" pace, for me at least (and I'm a slow smoker as it is).

All the T52's I've been smoking have been in my Vinotemp for months, sitting at 66%/65*. If they were wet, that would be a different story, but they're definitely not. And this has been over time, since the T52 first released. The Toro's are good, the RoBo's, IMO suck. But that's just me.

Interesting. I just got a 5er of robos, so we'll see how they go. Until now I've been smoking the toros, which I just love.
