I like to think that I know "what I'm doing" as I have quite a large collection, and to be honest, I think this is a great question.

When the issue is, "Do I leave the cellophane on the individual cigars," I have always been in the group that says it really doesn't matter.

However, the OP is asking a avery different question, as it is pertaining the the wrapping on the box. After looking at one of my boxes of "The Face" it appears to me that the wrapping has more of a plastic feel. This may disrupt the airflow through the box more than cellophane does to the cigars. I have to admit that I just threw the box in my wineador as is, but now I have taken the wrapping off.

IMHO, this was indeed a great question.

Definitely leave it ON.

Why? Because cigars will get proper humidity...No worries there.

AND, if you sell or trade it later, it ads value that the box is sealed.

Sealed and shrink wrapped are two different things. Those smokes gotta breathe in the humitity. IMO.
I have opened both sealed and shrink wrapped cigars that have rested in my humi for 5+ years...They were all fine.

Sealed boxes are meant to breathe, that's why they are sealed this way. Think about the many regular production boxes that sit in warehouses for months....They are sealed/shrink wrapped, stored on shelves, and delivered to customers in fine shape.

I've always said this, too...just think about all the boxes that sit in warehouses for long periods of time without issues. Also, a basic rule of thumb...if humidity can get out, humidity can get in.
